JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder specializing in psychiatry and behavioral health to join our team. You will be responsible for reviewing psychiatric clinical documentation, ensuring accurate code assignment, and optimizing billing workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Review clinical notes, psychiatric evaluations, and therapy session documentation for accuracy.

Assign accurate ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes (e.g., diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, medication management), and HCPCS modifiers.

Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, HIPAA, and commercial payer requirements.

Identify and resolve coding discrepancies, claim denials, or documentation gaps alongside clinical staff.

Qualifications:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) designation required.

Minimum 2 years of dedicated medical coding experience in psychiatry, mental health, or behavioral healthcare.

Proficiency in CPT coding for psychiatric diagnostic procedures, psychotherapy time-based add-on codes, and interactive complexity.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, psychiatric conditions, and payer billing guidelines.
