JOB OVERVIEW

We are an established Australian e-commerce business in the CBD and wellness industry looking for a full-time WordPress Developer & SEO Specialist to join our team long-term.

You will be working primarily on a growing network of WordPress affiliate and e-commerce websites. Many of these websites are brand new, so you will have the opportunity to build, optimise and grow sites from the ground up.

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously and take ownership of their work. There is no micromanagement in this role. We want someone who understands WordPress and SEO well enough to identify what needs to be done, prioritise tasks and get to work without needing constant instructions.

You will be given the overall goals and direction, but we expect you to use your own knowledge and experience to determine how best to achieve them.

We value people who are proactive. If you notice an SEO opportunity, a website issue, a new keyword worth targeting or something that could be improved, we want you to take initiative rather than wait to be told.

Your Responsibilities

WordPress Development

Build new WordPress websites from the ground up
Create professional, modern and conversion-focused website layouts
Build and edit pages using WordPress page builders
Configure themes, plugins, menus and site structure
Create and manage product and collection/category pages
Ensure websites are mobile responsive and fast
Troubleshoot WordPress issues
Make ongoing improvements to existing websites
Use AI tools to assist with creating logos, website graphics, banners and other visual assets

SEO

Conduct keyword research and identify ranking opportunities
Write and optimise meta titles and meta descriptions
Build effective internal linking structures
Optimise product, category and landing pages
Plan SEO-friendly website structures
Identify content opportunities based on search intent and competition
Monitor rankings and organic search performance
Perform basic technical SEO checks and improvements
Content
Research and create high-quality SEO content
Create blog posts, guides, landing pages and supporting content
Use AI tools such as ChatGPT to assist with research and content creation
Edit and improve AI-generated content so that it is useful, accurate and written for humans
Add images, internal links, headings and appropriate formatting before publishing

We are happy for you to use AI tools extensively. However, we do not want someone who simply generates an article with AI and publishes it without reviewing it. You must understand SEO, search intent and what makes content genuinely useful.

What We're Looking For

You should have:

Strong experience with WordPress
Previous SEO experience, preferably with e-commerce websites
Experience conducting keyword research
Understanding of on-page SEO
Understanding of internal linking and website architecture
Good written English
Experience creating and publishing website content
Ability to use AI tools effectively
Ability to work independently and manage multiple websites
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to learn and experiment

Experience with WooCommerce, Elementor, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush or similar SEO tools is highly desirable.

About the Role

You will be working across our main e-commerce business as well as an expanding network of affiliate websites.

Many of the affiliate websites are new, so your work will involve taking websites from the early stages through to fully developed sites with strong SEO foundations and ongoing content strategies.

We are looking for someone who wants a stable, long-term role and can grow with the business.
