JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Home Health Medical Coder to join our team in a fully virtual/remote position. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in Home Health coding, Medicare billing requirements, and CMS regulations and be able to work independently with accuracy, timeliness, and attention to compliance.

Qualifications
• Certified Medical Coder required
• Prior Home Health coding experience required
• Strong understanding of CMS Home Health regulations and Medicare requirements
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding specific to home health
• Experience reviewing clinical documentation, diagnoses, and Plans of Care for coding accuracy
• Understanding of Medicare home health eligibility, documentation, and billing requirements
• Ability to identify coding inconsistencies and communicate needed corrections to clinical or billing staff
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance
• Ability to work independently in a virtual environment and meet established deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities
• Review home health clinical records for accurate and compliant ICD-10-CM coding
• Assign appropriate primary and secondary diagnoses based on supporting clinical documentation
• Ensure coding is consistent with the Plan of Care, OASIS documentation, physician/practitioner documentation, and other supporting clinical records
• Review records for compliance with applicable CMS and Medicare Home Health requirements
• Collaborate with clinical, QA, intake, and billing teams to resolve coding or documentation concerns
• Identify documentation gaps that may impact coding, billing, reimbursement, or Medicare compliance
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
• Remain current with CMS, Medicare, and home health coding updates
This position is best suited for a coder who understands that home health coding involves more than assigning diagnosis codes—it requires an understanding of the clinical record, Medicare requirements, and the relationship between documentation, coding, and compliant billing.

Compensation
• Starting Pay: $10.00 per hour
• Performance Review: After 6 months
• Salary Adjustment: Based on performance and effectiveness
