JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly creative video editor for an ongoing documentary/experiential series filmed in the United States.

This is not a basic video editing position.

We need an editor who can take raw footage and turn it into a compelling story that feels cinematic, dynamic, emotional, and premium — closer to the pacing and storytelling of a Netflix documentary or reality-doc series than a traditional YouTube video.

The editor must be able to make creative decisions independently. We do not want to explain where every cut, B-roll shot, sound effect, music change, or emotional ---------- nt should go.

Your job is to find the story inside the footage.

What you’ll be editing:

Episodes may include:

aviation and learning to fly;
farms and physical work;
motorsports and extreme experiences;
unusual American professions and subcultures;
interviews combined with real-life action and experiences.

Typical final episodes: approximately 30–60 minutes.

What we expect:

Strong storytelling and sense of narrative.
Dynamic pacing that maintains viewer attention.
Ability to identify the strongest emotional ---------- nts in raw footage.
Creative use of B-roll and cutaways.
Professional sound design.
Music that supports tension, emotion, humor, fear, or excitement.
Strong opening sequences that make viewers want to continue watching.
Cinematic transitions when appropriate — without excessive effects.
Professional color correction and consistent visual style.
Clean titles and graphics.
Ability to build tension, anticipation, payoff, and emotional progression.
Consistent style across multiple episodes.

Most importantly:

You must be able to work independently.

We will provide the footage and explain the overall story and important ---------- nts. From there, we expect you to propose creative solutions and build the episode rather than waiting for frame-by-frame instructions.

You are welcome to use AI tools to analyze footage, develop storytelling ideas, improve workflows, or assist with creative decisions. We care about the quality of the final product.

Long-term opportunity:

We are looking for an editor who can become a long-term part of the production team.

If you consistently deliver strong work and can take creative responsibility for the episodes, the rate per episode can increase as the project grows.

Application:

Please send 2–3 examples that best demonstrate your cinematic storytelling ability.

Do not send a large generic portfolio. We specifically want to see documentary, reality, travel, adventure, television, or cinematic storytelling.

There will be a short unpaid test using our footage before we select the editor.
