JOB OVERVIEW

MICROSOFT VISIO 2D DESIGNER – BATHROOMS & KITCHENS

ABOUT OUR COMPANY

We are a growing online bathroom and kitchen company based in the Netherlands.

We help customers create practical and attractive bathrooms and kitchens while providing fair pricing, clear information and honest product advice.

To support our continued growth, we are looking for a careful and reliable 2D Designer who can create technically accurate bathroom and kitchen layouts in Microsoft Visio.

Both bathroom and kitchen layouts are created in Microsoft Visio.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will translate customer measurements, sketches, photographs, product specifications and design requirements into clear, functional and technically accurate 2D layouts.

Technical accuracy is the most important requirement of this position.

A design should look clear and professional, but appearance must never come at the expense of correct measurements, proper product dimensions, practical usability or technical consistency.

You must be comfortable checking measurements, identifying missing information and reporting conflicts before finalising a design.

This is a remote, part-time position for approximately 14–16 hours per week. There is potential for the position to grow based on performance and business needs.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Create 2D bathroom layouts in Microsoft Visio.
- Create 2D kitchen layouts in Microsoft Visio.
- Reproduce rooms accurately using supplied measurements, sketches, photographs and existing floor plans.
- Position bathroom products, kitchen cabinets, appliances and other elements according to the customer brief.
- Add clear dimensions, labels and relevant technical notes.
- Check whether all products fit within the available room dimensions.
- Check doors, cabinets, drawers and appliances for opening conflicts.
- Identify missing, unclear or contradictory information.
- Ask questions before making assumptions that could affect the design.
- Revise layouts based on internal or customer feedback.
- Maintain clear file names, version numbers and revision notes.
- Export completed layouts in the required formats.
- Communicate regularly with the project manager and other tea ---------- mbers.
- Follow our Microsoft Visio templates, drawing standards and quality-control checklist.

TECHNICAL ACCURACY – NON-NEGOTIABLE

Technical accuracy is a core responsibility of this position.

Every drawing must meet the following standards:

1. EXACT MEASUREMENTS

- Drawings must be created in millimetres.
- The correct drawing scale must be used.
- Room and product dimensions must be entered accurately.
- Products may not be resized or positioned based only on visual estimation.
- Supplied measurements may not be rounded, changed or corrected without approval.

2. ACCURATE ROOM STRUCTURE

The drawing must accurately include all supplied fixed room elements, such as:

- Internal wall dimensions.
- Corners and wall changes.
- Niches and boxed-in areas.
- Columns and structural obstacles.
- Doors and their opening directions.
- Windows and their positions.
- Radiators.
- Sloped ceilings or height restrictions.
- Plumbing, drainage, ventilation and electrical positions when supplied.

3. VERIFIED PRODUCT DIMENSIONS

- Products must be drawn using the approved product dimensions.
- Product dimensions must be checked against the supplied specifications.
- Width, depth and required installation space must be considered.
- Generic or estimated dimensions may only be used when clearly marked as provisional.
- You may not assume that a product fits without checking it.

4. COMPLETE AND CONSISTENT DIMENSIONING

The layout must contain enough information for another tea ---------- mber to understand and verify it.

Depending on the project, this includes:

- Overall room dimensions.
- Wall lengths.
- Door and window positions.
- Product dimensions.
- Product positions measured from fixed reference points.
- Cabinet and appliance positions.
- Important gaps, fillers and clearances.
- Passage widths and opening spaces.

Dimension chains must be internally consistent.

The sum of individual measurements must correspond with the relevant overall measurement. Any difference must be reported before the layout is considered complete.

5. COLLISION AND USABILITY CHECKS

Before submitting a design, you must check that:

- Products do not overlap.
- Products do not extend through walls or fixed objects.
- Room doors can open correctly.
- Cabinet doors and drawers can open.
- Appliances can be opened and used.
- The proposed layout is practical.
- Relevant installation points remain accessible.
- The layout follows the customer’s stated requirements.

6. NO SILENT ASSUMPTIONS

You must never silently guess when information is missing or contradictory.

When you find a problem, you must:

- Identify the missing or conflicting information.
- Explain why clarification is necessary.
- Ask a clear and concise question.
- Record any approved assumption in the drawing or submission notes.

If supplied measurements do not add up, you must report the discrepancy rather than placing the missing measurement wherever it appears to fit.

7. MANDATORY QUALITY CONTROL

Every layout must be checked before submission.

You are responsible for checking:

- Roo ---------- asurements.
- Product measurements.
- Product positions.
- Dimension chains.
- Doors and windows.
- Opening directions.
- Collisions and overlaps.
- Labels and technical notes.
- File names and version numbers.
- Required export files.
- Unresolved questions and assumptions.

Accuracy is more important than speed.

Repeated avoidable measurement errors, preventable collisions or unreported assumptions are not acceptable.

REQUIRED DELIVERABLES

Depending on the project, you will normally submit:

- The original Microsoft Visio file in VSDX format.
- A PDF export.
- A PNG or JPG preview when requested.
- A clearly named project file.
- The correct version number.
- A short submission or revision note.
- A list of any open questions or approved assumptions.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Practical experience using Microsoft Visio.
- Experience creating accurate 2D floor plans or room layouts.
- Ability to work with scaled drawings and millimetres.
- Ability to enter exact dimensions and positions.
- Ability to read floor plans, sketches and product specifications.
- Strong understanding of measurements and dimensioning.
- Exceptional attention to technical detail.
- Ability to identify conflicting or missing information.
- Ability to translate a customer brief into a functional layout.
- Clear written communication in English.
- Ability to receive feedback and accurately process revisions.
- Structured file-management habits.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Reliable internet connection.

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

- Bathroom design.
- Kitchen design.

- What you checked before submitting the drawing.

Please remove confidential customer information.
