JOB OVERVIEW

Work directly with the founders of an international M&A advisory firm. Learn deal analysis from the inside.

Hi! We are 5D Capital Partners, an M&A advisory firm working across the UK, US and UAE. We help business owners buy and sell companies, typically businesses making $500k to $5m in profit per year.

We are looking for a full-time Accountant / Financial Analyst to join our team and take ownership of our deal analysis.

THE ROLE
Every business we look at gets analysed on our deal sheet. It is a fixed template. Your job is to take the company accounts and seller information, fill in the template, tie all the numbers up so everything reconciles, and give a clear view on whether the deal makes sense.

You will also be the numbers person for two small companies we run: managing the accounts and cash flow, giving us your honest input on what the numbers are telling us, and finding and implementing ways to cut costs.

We do not want someone who just records the figures. We want opinions.

Honest scope check: I complete the deal sheets myself right now and I am not even an accountant. So this is not complicated work. It is careful work. If you have an accounting background, you can do this well, and we will train you fully on the M&A side.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Complete deal sheets from our template using company accounts, broker listings and seller documents
Manage the accounts and cash flow for two small companies in our group
Review our spending, find cost savings, and implement them, not just suggest them

Give the founders your honest view on the numbers: what is working, what is not, what needs attention

Tie every number back to its source and flag anything that does not add up
Adjust profit figures for one-off costs and owner expenses to find the true earnings (add-backs)

Check if asking prices are reasonable against the earnings

Spot the red flags: falling sales, too much debt, one big customer, owner doing everything

Write a short, clear summary in plain English with your verdict
Later on, as you grow: financial modelling, forecasts and valuation work

YOU MUST HAVE
- An accounting or finance background: CPA, accounting degree, bookkeeping, or solid experience preparing management accounts
- Confidence reading financial statements: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Excellent attention to detail. One wrong number means a wrong decision on a real deal
- Very good written English. Your summaries go straight to the founders
- Confidence to speak up. If you see a problem or a saving, we want to hear it
- Reliability. You hit deadlines and keep your own tracker without being chased

YOU DO NOT NEED
- Any M&A, investment banking or corporate finance experience. The template does the heavy lifting and we provide full training. We care about your accounting foundation, your accuracy and your willingness to learn.

NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with UK or US company accounts
- Any exposure to financial modelling or business valuation
- Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to work faster

WHY THIS ROLE IS A GREAT ONE
- You will analyse more real businesses and real deals in six months than most accountants see in years
- Full training on M&A deal analysis, a rare and valuable skill
- Real responsibility and a real voice. Your input directly shapes decisions
- Clear growth path into financial modelling and valuation
- Work directly with the founders
- Long-term, stable, full-time role

THE DETAILS
- Full time, working UK business hours
- Salary: $1,000 to $1,500 per month depending on experience, with bonuses on top for great performance
- Permanent work-from-home

HOW TO APPLY
We read every application, so please follow these steps exactly:
1. Start your application with the word LEDGER so we know you read the whole post.
2. Attach your CV.
3. Record a short Loom video, 2 minutes maximum: introduce yourself, tell us about your accounting background, and describe the most complex set of accounts you have worked with.
4. In one short paragraph, answer this: what are the first three things you would check to d ---------- if a business is worth buying?

Applications without the code word or the video will not be considered.

Many thanks,
Mike
