JOB OVERVIEW

WordPress / Divi Web Developer

Alight Media is looking for an experienced WordPress developer to join our team on a long-term basis. We build and manage professional websites for small businesses, nonprofits, and local organizations throughout the United States.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience building and maintaining WordPress websites using Divi. You should be able to take an approved design or set of instructions and turn it into a polished, responsive website.

Responsibilities
Build and update WordPress websites using Divi
Create responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile
Customize website designs using HTML and CSS
Troubleshoot WordPress, plugin, and display issues
Complete ongoing content and design updates
Improve website speed and performance
Migrate websites between hosting providers when needed
Test completed work before submitting it for review
Follow provided designs, instructions, and brand guidelines

Some projects may also use tools such as Smart Slider 3, Max Mega Menu, Gravity Forms, WooCommerce, and other common WordPress plugins.

Required Experience
Strong experience with WordPress
Advanced experience with Divi and the Divi Builder
Strong HTML and CSS skills
Understanding of responsive web design
Ability to troubleshoot WordPress and plugin issues
Familiarity with hosting accounts, cPanel, FTP, databases, and DNS
Ability to optimize images and website performance
Strong attention to detail
Good written English and communication skills
Reliable internet connection and consistent availability

Experience with basic JavaScript, PHP troubleshooting, WooCommerce, Cloudflare, LiteSpeed Cache, website migrations, and basic SEO is a plus.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions carefully. You should be comfortable working independently, communicating when you encounter a problem, and checking your work before marking a task complete.

This position requires more than installing themes and replacing text. You should be able to customize layouts, identify problems, and make websites closely match the provided design.

Schedule

This position may begin on a part-time or project-based basis, with the opportunity to become a consistent, long-term role. Some availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours is preferred for communication and project coordination.
