JOB OVERVIEW

MARKETING AI ENGINEER
Official title: GTM Engineer (Go-to-Market Engineer)
Swerv Digital, Full-time, Remote (Philippines), Long-term

We are looking for someone who understands marketing AND builds with AI. Not a designer who uses AI tools. Not an engineer who has never seen a Meta Ads account. Someone who sits in the middle: knows why an ad works, and can build the system that produces a hundred of them.

The official title for this role is GTM Engineer, short for Go-to-Market Engineer. We describe it as Marketing AI Engineer because that is plainly what it is: marketing understanding plus AI engineering, in one person.

It is a build role. You will be constructing the machinery that takes our marketing to market, as Viktor and Frederik's right hand on systems development.

Please read the whole post before applying. We ask for something specific at the bottom, and applications that skip it are not considered.

=====================================
THE BASICS
=====================================

TYPE: Full-time, long-term. We are not hiring for a project.
LOCATION: Remote. You work from the Philippines.
SCHEDULE: Fully flexible. You d ---------- when you work.
SALARY: 1,000 USD per month to start, paid monthly.
GROWTH: Yearly salary re-evaluation plus yearly performance bonuses.
TOOLS: We pay for everything you need, including AI subscriptions, compute and software.
APPLY TO: ----------
TIMELINE: We are hiring within 1 to 2 weeks.

=====================================
READ THIS PART FIRST
=====================================

We hired for a creative role earlier this year. Great person, real talent. It did not work, and the reason is worth being honest about, because it defines this role.

The job involved a lot of prompting, a lot of systems thinking, and a lot of working THROUGH AI rather than with your hands. For someone whose satisfaction comes from craft, from making the thing themselves, that is draining. Not wrong, just a mismatch. We learned something about ourselves: we are not a creative studio that uses AI. We are an AI-operations company that produces marketing.

So this posting is not a re-run of that one. We are not looking for a creative who tolerates AI. We are looking for someone whose actual joy is in the system: building agents, wiring up pipelines, designing the prompt architecture, pushing volume through it, and watching output quality climb because you improved the machine.

If reading that made you lean in, this might be one of the most interesting jobs on this site. If it made you deflate slightly, save yourself the application, and we mean that kindly.

=====================================
HOW WE WORK: YOUR SCHEDULE, ZERO MICROMANAGEMENT
=====================================

You d ---------- when you work. Fully flexible.

We do not micromanage. Ever. There is no time tracker, no screenshot software, no check-in ritual to prove you were at your desk. We are a small, fast-moving team and that model only functions on trust in both directions.

What we care about is output, ---------- ntum and communication. Ship things. Tell us what you are working on. Flag problems early. Be reachable when it matters. Beyond that, structure your days however you actually work best, early mornings, late nights, whatever produces your best work.

This is a real advantage and also a real filter. Some people thrive with that much freedom and produce more than they ever did under supervision. Others need external structure to stay in motion, and quietly drift without it. If you are honest with yourself and you are the second type, this will not be a good year for either of us.

You should be the kind of person who gets EXCITED reading that paragraph, not nervous.

=====================================
ABOUT SWERV DIGITAL
=====================================

Swerv Digital is a performance marketing and e-commerce agency based in Aarhus, Denmark. Small, tight-knit team, Viktor, Frederik and RJ, and we are hiring for the long haul.

RJ, one of our core tea ---------- mbers, is Filipino. Our team already works across time zones and cultures every day, and it works well. We are direct, open and collaborative. You will not be treated as an outsourced pair of hands. You will be a member of the team with real ownership and a real voice in what we build.

We work with ambitious e-commerce and service businesses across the Nordics and Europe, operating as an outsourced CMO and e-commerce manager rather than a traditional agency.

We are paid on performance. Our income is tied to what we actually move for clients. That is why efficiency is not a nice-to-have here. It is the business model.

WE ARE EXTREMELY HEAVY ON AI

We are in the top 1% of companies globally in how deeply AI is embedded in daily operations. Concretely, what already exists:

- An internal data and operations platform that our AI systems query directly
- 15+ live tool integrations: Shopify, Meta, Klaviyo, Google Ads, Notion, Slack, Ahrefs, Figma, Calendly, Drive and more, all callable by agents
- A structured knowledge system where brand, tone and compliance rules are encoded so AI produces on-brand, legally sound output at volume
- Automated performance loops: weekly pipelines that pull ad data, apply decision rules, produce kill/scale/hold recommendations, log winners, and generate the next round of creative concepts
- Internal tools we built ourselves, including a creative intelligence system that scrapes, transcribes and analyses competitor ads to extract what is actually working
- Agent chains, where one system's output becomes the next one's input, end to end, with a human reviewing rather than executing

You will inherit this and be expected to make it substantially better. There is a lot of low-hanging fruit and a lot of things we know are held together with tape.

You will also get access to tooling and resources most people simply cannot get on their own. That is part of the deal, and part of why we care more about your potential than your CV.

=====================================
THE ROLE
=====================================

You will be Viktor and Frederik's right hand on building systems.

That means building and improving agents, pipelines and tooling across the whole marketing stack: creative production at volume, ad copy generation with compliance built in, performance analysis and reporting, research and competitor intelligence, client communication drafts, internal documentation, and anything else currently costing us human hours that a well-built system could absorb.

It also means bringing ideas. We want someone who tests new approaches, reports back on what worked, argues for a better way, and pushes the company's limits rather than waiting to be pointed at something. You will be in the room where we d ---------- what to build next, and expected to have opinions there.

You need to be close to the actual marketing too. You should understand what a good Meta ad is, why a hook works, what creative fatigue looks like in the data, and how a funnel behaves, because you cannot build a system that produces good marketing if you cannot recognise good marketing.

Concrete examples of what you might do in your first months:

- Improve our creative production pipeline so a week of ad assets goes from a half-day of work to an hour
- Build an agent that monitors ad performance across all accounts and surfaces problems before we notice them
- Design an evaluation layer so we can actually measure whether a change to a prompt system made output better or worse
- Extend our internal platform so data, creative history and performance results live in one queryable place instead of three
- Automate the parts of reporting that are currently manual
- Build the internal interface that makes all of this usable by non-technical colleagues

=====================================
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
=====================================

BUILD AND IMPROVE INTERNAL AI SYSTEMS
Design, build, deploy and maintain the agents, pipelines and tools that run our operations. Own them end to end, including the unglamorous parts: error handling, monitoring, versioning, and making sure things still work in three months.

PROMPT AND CONTEXT ARCHITECTURE
Design the structured instruction systems that make AI output reliably good rather than occasionally good. Encoding brand voice, compliance rules, product data and decision logic so output stays consistent over time. This is a real engineering discipline and we treat it as one.

EVALUATION AND QUALITY
Build the measurement layer. If we cannot tell whether a change improved output, we are just guessing. Set up evals, comparisons, regression checks and quality gates.

INTEGRATIONS AND DATA PLUMBING
Connect our stack. APIs, webhooks, MCP servers, databases, automation platforms. Get data out of Meta, Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Ads and Notion and into places where it is useful. Make it reliable.

MARKETING SYSTEMS AT VOLUME
Build the machinery for high-volume creative and copy production, with brand and compliance constraints intact. Volume without quality control is worthless. Quality without volume does not scale. You own both sides.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS TOOLING
Turn ad and e-commerce data into automated analysis: performance loops, anomaly detection, cross-account learning, reporting. Help us see patterns no individual account manager would spot.

INTERNAL TOOLING AND INTERFACES
Build things the rest of the team can actually use. A brilliant system nobody but you can operate is a liability.

TEST AND PUSH THE LIMITS
Actively try new models, tools and approaches. Form a view on what is worth adopting and what is noise. Bring proposals to Viktor and Frederik rather than waiting for direction. We change how we work whenever something better appears, and we want you driving that.

=====================================
REQUIREMENTS
=====================================

YOU GENUINELY LOVE WORKING WITH AI
This is the single most important requirement. You use AI systems daily, you have built things with them, you have opinions about which models are good at what and why. When a new model or tool ships you have tried it before the newsletter about it lands. This is not enthusiasm for the IDEA of AI. It is a practical, hands-on habit.

YOU CAN BUILD
You write code. Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar. You can work with APIs, databases (SQL), automation platforms and modern AI tooling. You do not need a degree or years of enterprise experience, but you need to be able to ship working systems without someone holding the other end.

YOU UNDERSTAND MARKETING, OR WILL LEARN IT FAST
Specifically paid social, and specifically Meta. Hooks, ROAS, CPA, creative fatigue, the learning phase, why Advantage+ changed how campaigns get structured. If you already know this, great. If you do not yet but you are the kind of person who will have absorbed it within a month, say so and show us why we should believe you.

FLUENT ENGLISH, NON-NEGOTIABLE
You must be genuinely fluent in written and spoken English. Our entire team communicates in English, and this role in particular lives on precise writing, because you will be designing instructions for both humans and machines. You will be on video calls regularly. If we experience a language barrier in the process, it is not a match. We would rather be blunt about this now than waste your time later.

SYSTEMS THINKING
You naturally see processes rather than tasks. When you do something twice manually, it bothers you. You think in inputs, transformations, outputs and feedback loops.

SELF-DIRECTION
You get a problem and you run with it. You ask sharp questions up front, then deliver. You manage your own schedule and priorities without supervision, and you flag blockers early.

A STEEP LEARNING CURVE SOUNDS EXCITING, NOT SCARY
You want to be significantly better in six months than you are today, and you are willing to put in real effort to get there.

RELIABLE SETUP
Stable internet, a computer that can handle real development work, a quiet space for calls.

PRAGMATISM
We are a business, not a research lab. A scrappy thing that works and saves us ten hours a week beats an elegant thing that is 80% done. Know when to stop polishing.

LONG-TERM MINDSET
We are building a small, highly efficient team that works together for years. We want someone who will still be here, and much more senior, in three years.

=====================================
NICE TO HAVE
=====================================

- Agent frameworks and orchestration: MCP, tool-use patterns, multi-step agent design
- Shopify, Klaviyo or Meta API experience, the platforms we live in
- Data work: pipelines, warehousing, transformation, dashboarding
- Front-end skills: React or similar, for building internal interfaces
- Video or creative production understanding, how assets actually get made
- Having run your own thing: a side project, tool, product or business you built and shipped
- Agency experience: you understand what serving multiple clients at once feels like

=====================================
WHAT THIS JOB IS NOT
=====================================

To be as clear as possible, since we got this wrong once:

- It is NOT a graphic design or art direction role. You will not be asked to have great taste in typography.
- It is NOT a hands-on creative craft role. If your satisfaction comes from making the artifact yourself, you will not enjoy this.
- It is NOT a pure engineering role isolated from the business. You will be close to campaigns and revenue.
- It is NOT a role with a clear backlog handed to you. Ambiguity is the default state.
- It is NOT a virtual assistant or task-execution role. We need someone who d ---------- WHAT to build, not just builds what they are told.

=====================================
SALARY, GROWTH AND BONUS
=====================================

- 1,000 USD per month to start, paid monthly.
- Yearly salary re-evaluation, based on what you have taken on and delivered, not on how long you have been here.
- Yearly performance bonuses. We are a performance marketing agency. We get paid mostly on the results we deliver, and we think the team should work the same way. When the agency performs, everyone is rewarded.
- Real room to grow. This role has no ceiling we can see. The systems you build directly determine how much this company can handle, which means your leverage is enormous and visible.
- We invest in your development. Models, tools, compute, courses, experiments, we pay for them. The better you get, the better we all get.
- We pay on time. Every month. No chasing, no excuses.

=====================================
WHY JOIN SWERV DIGITAL
=====================================

Very few places will let you build AI systems that go straight into production against real money, with no committee, no procurement process and no six-month approval cycle. You will ship something on Tuesday and see it affect results by Friday.

You will not be one engineer among fifty maintaining someone else's platform. You will be Viktor and Frederik's right hand, the person who helps d ---------- what our operational machinery looks like, brings new approaches to the table, and gets to test them.

And you will be doing this at a company that has already committed, genuinely and structurally, not in a press release, to being AI-first. The foundation is built. We need someone to help make it formidable.

=====================================
HOW TO APPLY
=====================================

SEND YOUR APPLICATION TO: ----------

This is important. Applications sent anywhere else will not be considered.

Include the following:

1. A PERSONAL INTRODUCTION
Who are you as a person? What do you like? What drives you? What are you curious about right now? This matters more to us than anything else in your application, so do not rush it and do not make it generic.

2. YOUR PREVIOUS WORK
Give us an idea of your experience: projects, jobs, things you have built.

Important: a long track record is NOT necessary. What matters is a genuine will to prove yourself and appetite for a steep learning curve. Most people have never had access to the kind of resources and tooling we work with, and we know that. We are not filtering for people who already had the opportunity. We are looking for the person who will do the most with it once they have it.

3. SOMETHING YOU HAVE BUILT WITH AI
Any size. A system, agent, pipeline, tool, automation, prompt setup, anything you actually use or used. Tell us what problem it solved, what you tried that failed, and what you would do differently now. Scrappy is fine. Honest is better.

4. ONE THING YOU WOULD AUTOMATE
Think about a marketing agency producing ads for many brands at once. Pick one part of that work you would systematise or automate, and tell us roughly how you would build it. Keep it short. We are reading your thinking, not your word count.

5. OPTIONAL
Anything else: code, a repo, a demo, a weird side project you are proud of.

TWO RULES, PLEASE READ THEM

The word PIPELINE must appear in your application. Start your message with it. If the word is not there, your application will not be considered. No exceptions. It is how we know you read the post.

If you do not hear back from us within 72 hours, you have not been selected for an interview. We will not leave you waiting or wondering. We appreciate the time it takes to apply properly, and this is the clearest way we can respect it.

We are hiring within 1 to 2 weeks, so we look forward to hearing from you soon.

We are not looking for the most polished CV. We are looking for the right person.

Tip: make something nice out of your application, so you stand out.
