Talent Upstream is the premier RPO for solar and roofing companies. We handle the entire front end of talent acquisition for our clients — sourcing, screening, validating, and pre-training commission sales reps — leveraging our proprietary interviewing system and training programs. We deliver a candidate who knows the script and is ready to hit the field generating appointments and sales in week one. Our clients don't get resumes; they get producers.
Most recruiting jobs are screening jobs. This one is a closing job — and it comes with real trust: you'll run first and second interviews, make the hires, and carry every recruit across the board to their start.
The role
You own our hiring funnel end to end. This is high-volume, high-touch recruiting for lead-generation sales roles, and you won't do it alone: the organization feeds you lead flow, and a setter books appointments directly onto your calendar. Your job is to work the pipeline and close.
Your week, in numbers:
15-20 first interviews per day (3-4 per day) by phone, 15–30 minutes each — qualify hard, map goals, screen against our rubric
15+ recorded video interviews per week (3 per day) — scoring candidate submissions from our screening gates
Job offers extended — setting the right expectations and creating the right hiring environment to candidates who clear the process
Pre-Training Administration — Entering these new hires into our proprietary virtual training program and managing progress to ensure at least 50% of extended offers start with employer day 1
Time Breakdown:
Minimum 20 first interviews at 30 minutes each - 10 hours per week
Minimum 15 closing interviews per week at 40 minutes each - 10 hours per week
Sourcing to schedule first interviews - 15 hours per week
Managing candidate pipeline - 5 hours per week
Requirements:
Great interpersonal skills. You'll spend all day on the phone with candidates whose lives change if you're right about them. Warmth and judgment, at volume.
Excellent English proficiency
Understanding of Sales Psychology. Know how to create the right recruiting environment and influence the middle 60.
Experience hiring commission-based salespeople — D2D, solar, roofing, insurance, auto, or a high-output staffing desk — and running closing interviews where the offer gets sold, not just screened.
Willingness to complete our training program (see below).
You must vet out with the owner. Every person in this seat is personally approved — same standard we hold our candidates to.
You can sell the dream without lying. We provide real earnings math to candidates — median and top-tier — and close better because of it. We believe in setting clear and honest expectations from the first meeting.
The training program — read before applying:
For those selected, we offer an industry leading training program that teaches the fundamentals of sales talent acquisition: how we source, screen, interview, close, and carry. Live role-plays, direct coaching, and feedback from the founder throughout. The class runs 5–15 days (one to three weeks) depending on your pace, and graduation is the gate — finish it and vet out with the owner, and you're eligible for the seat.
Growth — where this goes:
We believe in teaching, training, and developing our people — it's literally our business. We're hiring one person right now, with the goal of scaling this team to eight by the end of 2026. The first person in the door who performs is the natural candidate to grow into management and oversee that team. You'd be trained for that the same way you were trained for this: deliberately.
Compensation — the real math:
$10 per hour plus bonuses for starting cohort groups above 8 per week
To apply:
Answer these three questions with your application:
Describe the commission-based roles you've hired for — vertical, volume, and how you sold candidates on them.
What are you looking for during an interview with a candidate for this role?
What was your interview show rate, and what did you do to protect it?
Are you willing and able to complete an unpaid training program (one to three weeks) before starting?
