Experienced U.S. Federal & State Payroll Specialist
Responsible for processing accurate, timely multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations. Manages payroll records, wage garnishments, deductions, payroll taxes, benefits, PTO, and employee data while partnering with HR and Finance to resolve payroll issues and maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
-Process semi-monthly multi-state payroll.
-Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
-Process payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, bonuses, commissions, and reimbursements.
-Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies promptly.
-Maintain payroll records and employee data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
-Coordinate with HR and Finance on new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and audits.
-Support payroll reporting, year-end processing (W-2s), and payroll-related compliance activities.
Qualifications
-3+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience.
-Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulations.
-Experience with payroll/HRIS systems (ADP, Paylocity, UKG, Workday, Justworks, or similar).
-Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
-Excellent organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.
-CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred but not required.
