Reynolds Engineering is seeking an experienced accountant or bookkeeper to review, organize, and correct our QuickBooks records in preparation for tax filing.
The initial scope will involve reviewing prior transactions, identifying and correcting bookkeeping issues, reconciling accounts, and making sure the financial records are complete and properly categorized. We operate related engineering businesses in Pennsylvania and New York under separate entities and EINs, so experience working with multiple business entities would be helpful.
Responsibilities:
-Review the current QuickBooks setup and identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
-Correct transaction classifications and clean up prior bookkeeping entries
-Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
-Review income, expenses, owner contributions, distributions, and transfers between accounts
-Confirm that transactions are assigned to the appropriate business entity
-Organize the books so they are ready to be provided to the tax preparer
-Prepare or review profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, and general ledger reports
-Identify any missing records or supporting documentation needed for tax preparation
-Recommend improvements to the ongoing bookkeeping process
-Potentially provide continuing monthly or quarterly bookkeeping support
We would also like someone who can review year-to-date income and expenses and help determine the appropriate quarterly estimated tax payments. Applicants providing tax advice should have the appropriate accounting or tax qualifications and experience.
Qualifications:
-Strong experience with QuickBooks Online
-Experience cleaning up and correcting existing bookkeeping records
-Experience preparing business financial records for tax filing
-Knowledge of bookkeeping for small businesses and single-owner companies
-Experience handling multiple related entities with separate EINs
-Ability to explain bookkeeping and tax-related issues clearly
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify irregular or incorrectly categorized transactions
-CPA, Enrolled Agent, or other relevant tax experience is preferred for quarterly tax planning and estimated-payment guidance
This will begin as a project to correct and organize the existing QuickBooks records, with the possibility of ongoing bookkeeping and quarterly tax support.
Please provide a summary of your QuickBooks experience, relevant accounting or tax qualifications, hourly rate or project fee, and examples of similar cleanup work you have completed.
