JOB OVERVIEW

Social Media & Video Marketing VA — Reels, Community Groups, Growth (Part-Time, Ongoing)

We run social sports competitions in Brisbane and the Gold Coast — netball, basketball, volleyball, and a lot of people making friends on a Tuesday night. We have great content happening every single week. We need someone to actually get it out into the world.

This role is 80% content and distribution: cutting short-form video, and putting our brand in front of new audiences in the community groups where our next players already hang out. If you think in hooks, captions and 9:16, keep reading.

CREATE

Short-form video (the big one). Turn raw phone footage, game clips and photos from our venue teams into scroll-stopping Reels, TikToks and Shorts. Around 3–5 videos a week: hook in the first 2 seconds, on-brand captions, trending audio when it fits, published across Instagram, ---------- and Facebook.

Venue "sneak peek" videos for YouTube. Every venue gets its own walkthrough — the courts, the entry, where to park, and what the vibe is like on a game night. New players want to know what they're walking into before they commit, and right now they can't see it. You'll cut these from footage our venue teams capture, upload them to our YouTube channel with proper titles, descriptions and thumbnails, and get them embedded on the matching venue page on our website.

Stories and daily posting. Reels are the reach play; Stories are the volume play. Results, "2 spots left in Wednesday netball", next-round reminders, polls, behind-the-scenes. Near-zero editing, posted most days, keeping us visible between the bigger videos.

Own the content pipeline. You'll never be sitting around waiting for footage, because chasing it is your job. A weekly Slack nudge to our venue teams and Vibe Champions for clips and photos, everything filed into a shared Drive folder with a clear naming convention, and a running library of usable footage so there's always something to cut.

Content calendar. Plan a month ahead, per city, built around our competition start dates and registration windows — so we're posting when people can actually sign up, not just posting whenever.

DISTRIBUTE

Community group marketing. Own our organic reach. Post and share our content into external Facebook groups and local online communities — suburb and "what's on" pages, "new to Brisbane/Gold Coast" groups, and uni communities — around 15–20 targeted posts a week, which should take you 1–2 hours. We'll give you access to an established Facebook profile to post from, so you're not using your own. You'll also get our community-group best-practice guide and approved post templates; you bring the judgement to tailor each post so it lands like a local, not a billboard, and track which groups actually drive traffic so we know where to double down.

Free listing distribution. Get our comps onto every free channel that reaches locals: Must Do Brisbane, WeekendNotes, council and community what's-on listings, uni and student club noticeboards, Meetup-style platforms. Repetitive work that quietly compounds.

Local visibility. Keep our Google Business Profiles fresh across every venue — weekly posts, new photos, current offers — and reply to every Google and Facebook review we receive.

CONVERT

Turn comments into players. Reply to every comment on our Facebook and Instagram posts, ads and Reels, plus the comments on our posts inside community groups. Half of these people are one friendly reply away from signing up. Answer the "how much is it?" and "do I need a team?" questions, point them to the right link, and follow up on anyone showing real interest. This is where a lot of our signups are quietly won or lost.

DM triage. Same job, different inbox. Answer the standard questions using the FAQ we give you, and hand anything qualified straight to our enquiries team. You're not closing sales — you're making sure nobody's message sits unanswered for a day.

KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING

Ads, monitored not micromanaged. Day-to-day watching of our Meta and Google campaigns: check spend, flag anything sinking, swap creative when a video fatigues, and send us a short weekly performance note. You don't need to be a media buyer — you need to notice when something breaks.

Light admin. Occasional internal community check-ins and small day-to-day marketing tasks.

GROWING INTO THE ROLE

Once you've found your feet and we trust your instincts with our brand voice, there's more here — starting with outreach to local micro-creators and uni sport clubs. It's a real growth lever we want someone to own.

How you'll work

You'll be in our Slack workspace alongside the team. Projects, briefs and raw footage all come to you through Slack, and you'll post your work back there for quick feedback.

You must be online and available in Slack from 11:00am to 2:00pm AEST (Brisbane time), Monday to Friday. Clock in via Slack at 11:00am and clock out when you finish — this is non-negotiable, because it's the window where the team can reach you in real time. Ask questions early, flag anything blocking you, and post your work back for feedback. We'd much rather a quick message than a stalled task.

What we need from you

Proven experience as a Social Media Assistant, Content Creator, or Marketing VA
Strong video editing — CapCut, Premiere, Canva, whatever your weapon is. Comfortable with both fast vertical edits and cleaner, longer walkthrough-style videos. We want to see the work, not hear about it.
Familiar with YouTube: uploading, titles and descriptions, thumbnails, and basic optimisation
Real experience posting organically in Facebook groups and online communities — and an understanding of how to do it without getting removed by admins
Genuinely good at community management — quick, warm, human replies in comments and DMs, with an instinct for when someone's ready to be nudged into signing up
Comfortable in Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads: reading results, monitoring, swapping creative
Organised enough to chase people for content and keep a tidy asset library
Able to reliably work 11:00am–2:00pm AEST every weekday. Please check what that is in your timezone before applying — if it doesn't work for your life, this role isn't for you.
Excellent written English with a natural, human, social-first tone — you'll be writing captions, group posts and replies that sound like a person, not a brand
Reliable and a self-starter. You'll be given the strategy and the assets; we need someone who runs with it instead of waiting for a to-do list.
The details

Rate: $5–10 AUD/hour, depending on experience and tech proficiency
Hours: 20 hours per week
Core hours: 11:00am–2:00pm AEST, Monday to Friday. You must be online in Slack and clocked in for this window.
Remaining hours: The other 5 hours a week are flexible — work them whenever suits you, as long as deadlines are met.
Type: Ongoing and long-term. If this role goes well, there's genuine room for it to grow into a full-time position. We're looking for someone to build with, not a one-off project.
HOW TO APPLY

Do not reply to this ad. All applications go through our form:

???? ----------

It takes about 15–20 minutes. Have these ready before you start:

Links to 2–3 short-form videos you edited yourself (Reels/TikToks/Shorts) — your best work, not your longest. Set so anyone can view them.
One real example of organic community posting you've done — where, what, and what it actually produced.
A short video (under 2 minutes) telling Melodie the one thing in your personal life you're passionate about. Upload to Google Drive or YouTube, viewable by anyone. Rough and real beats polished and generic.
A speed test result and a 1-minute typing test result (speedtest.net and ---------- ), a screenshot of your computer specs, and a link to your resume.
One of the questions asks for a word. The word is VIBE — it's how we know you read the whole ad instead of skimming it.

Applications that skip the video links, or that arrive as a message instead of a form submission, won't be reviewed.
