Full-time | Day Shift (aligned to Melbourne business hours) | Long-term role with excellent remuneration
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a skilled, methodical Estimator to support an established Australian aluminium windows, doors and glazing business with more than twenty years in the trade.
You'll take ownership of quoting and tender pricing across a broad mix of residential and commercial work, from a single shower screen through to a large commercial shopfront. The product range spans aluminium windows and doors, shopfronts, glass roofs, office partitions, frameless shower screens, splashbacks, mirrors, balustrades, pool fencing and glass replacement. Your estimates are how the business wins jobs, so accuracy and commercial sense both matter.
This is a technical, analytical role that suits someone who enjoys working with drawings, numbers and clear systems. You'll be trained in the in-house quoting method and supported as you learn how the work is built and priced.
A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR FINANCIAL SECURITY
This is a rare chance to secure a stable, long-term position with an established, respected Australian trade business.
You'll get consistent hours, strong pay, and the chance to develop deep estimating expertise in a specialised niche. You'll be treated as a valued professional, not a disposable freelancer, and supported with training, templates and direct access to the owner and senior estimator to help you succeed.
To set you up well, you'll start by focusing on quantities and bills of materials, where there is a clear right answer, and take on the costing side progressively over your first couple of months with direct feedback. There is also real scope to shape and improve how the estimating is done over time.
If you want job security, professional growth and a respectful remote environment, this role is for you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare accurate, itemised quotes and tender pricing across the full product range, from a single shower screen through to a large commercial shopfront
- Enter sizes, glass, finishes and hardware into the windows and doors quoting software (V6) to generate bills of materials (full training provided)
- Interpret architectural and shop drawings, specifications and site measurements to produce accurate quantity take-offs
- Source and compare supplier pricing for glass, aluminium systems and hardware to sharpen costings
- Apply the in-house labour and degree-of-difficulty formulas to build the final price
- Price jobs to meet margin requirements and keep them commercially viable
- Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, risks and cost variables before quotes go out
- Support tender responses, stating assumptions, exclusions and clarifications clearly
- Maintain and improve estimating templates, rate libraries and pricing
- Ensure quotes and estimating language match Australian standards and trade terminology
- Liaise with suppliers, and over time respond to customer enquiries about quotes as your product knowledge grows
Skills & Experience
MUST HAVE
- Two to three or more years experience estimating for construction or trade projects, with hands-on quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
- Working proficiency in Bluebeam and/or PlanSwift, plus strong Excel or Google Sheets
- AutoCAD literacy for reviewing and marking up drawings
- Confident interpreting architectural and structural drawings and producing itemised estimates or bills of quantities
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to learn the in-house quoting software (V6) and pricing method
- Reliable internet and a professional home working setup
- Strong attention to detail and consistent delivery to deadlines
HIGHLY REGARDED
- Estimating experience in glazing, aluminium windows and doors, coatings, façade or fit-out work
- Australian project experience, or familiarity with Australian standards (such as AGWA guidance and the glass and window standards AS 1288 and AS 2047)
- Familiarity with Australian tender workflows and platforms such as EstimateOne
- Ability to produce or clean up shop drawings in AutoCAD or Bluebeam
- A track record of improving estimating templates, systems or automation, and confidence using AI tools well
- Confidence communicating assumptions and exclusions clearly with suppliers and customers
- A relevant qualification in architecture, civil or structural engineering, or quantity surveying
WHO YOU ARE
- You enjoy problem-solving and technical accuracy
- You're organised, methodical and commercially aware, and you take pride in your output
- You communicate proactively when working remotely (no disappearing)
- You like improving systems, templates and the way work gets done
- You want a long-term role with one employer
WORK SETUP

WHAT WE OFFER
