We are hiring one senior accountant in the Philippines to work directly with our Head of Accounting and Compliance. This is not a data entry role and it is not a call centre. You will prepare complete client files that an Australian registered tax agent reviews and signs.
You will already have done this work. If you have not prepared an Australian company tax return or reconciled an Australian trust distribution, this role is not for you and we would rather not waste your time.
WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO
This is a business services and tax role. Most of your week is preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals. You will build the workpaper file in Active Workpapers so that every number is supported and referenced. You will prepare the tax reconciliation from accounting profit to taxable income, Division 7A schedules, trust distribution schedules and capital gains calculations.
The rest of your week is Xero bookkeeping and BAS preparation across multiple entities, group consolidations with intercompany eliminations, and ASIC annual review and corporate register work.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- At least five years in accounting, including at least three years working on Australian clients in an Australian public practice or an offshore team serving one.
- You have prepared Australian company, trust and partnership financial statements and tax returns yourself, start to finish.
- You know Division 7A, trust distributions and capital gains tax well enough to spot a problem, not just process a transaction.
- Advanced Xero. You can find why a reconciliation is wrong and fix it at the source instead of writing a journal.
- Experience with an Australian tax lodgement platform. Xero Tax is what we use.
- Experience with a workpaper platform. Active Workpapers is what we use.
- Written English strong enough that an Australian business owner reading your

CPA Philippines. Group consolidations. ASIC forms and corporate registers. Karbon, NowInfinity or Dext. Property and development clients. Some SMSF exposure in Class Super or BGL is a bonus, but this is not an SMSF role.
WHAT WE OFFER
- PHP Market Competitive salary Package paid monthly.
- Annual review.
- Direct access to a senior Australian accountant who will review your work properly and tell you why.
- Long term work commitment.
HOW THIS WORKS
- Full time, 40 hours per week, Australian Eastern Standard Time. That is roughly 6am to 3pm Manila time.
- You are engaged as an independent contractor. You manage your own Philippine tax.
- You work inside our secure remote desktop. Nothing is stored on your own computer. This is an Australian legal requirement for taxpayer data and we do not make exceptions.
- The first month is an initial engagement period, paid at the full rate, converting to ongoing full time contract on satisfactory performance. We give you the conversion criteria in writing before you start, so you know exactly what you are being measured against.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications that ignore these instructions will not be read. This is deliberate. We want people who follow written instructions precisely, because that is the job.
Send your application with the subject line:
Senior Accountant AU BS and Tax, [your surname]
Attach your CV and answer all six questions below in the body of your message. Short, direct answers are better than long ones.
1. How many Australian company tax returns have you personally prepared from trial balance to lodgement-ready, and in what years?
2. Name the Australian tax software and the workpaper software you have used, and say how long you used each.
3. A client company lent its sole director the equivalent of A$80,000 during the year and it has not been repaid. What provision of Australian tax law is engaged, and what are the two ways the problem can be dealt with before the lodgement day?
4. A bank reconciliation in Xero will not balance. Walk us through, in five steps or fewer, how you find the cause.
5. Describe a group consolidation or an ASIC annual review you have personally prepared. If you have done neither, say so.
6. What is your monthly rate expectation in PHP, and when could you start?
We read every application that follows the instructions. We expect to shortlist within five working days for 1st round interviews.
