Business Context
PSJ requires drafting support for custom joinery and cabinetry work. Our internal process uses Microvellum as a CAD-based drawing and production tool, including cabinet and hardware libraries, job elevations, 3D product renders, drawings, and automated production information for machine processing, labels, cutting, edging, and parts.
The work may include custom size and custom colour cabinetry, using Australian board and hardware specifications such as Laminex, Polytec, Blum, Hettich, Hafele, or DTC where applicable.
4. Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate should be able to assist with:
Preparing Microvellum drawings from sketches, plans, site measurements, mark-ups, or customer briefs.
Creating cabinet layouts, elevations, plans, sections, and 3D views.
Applying cabinet construction logic such as carcass sizing, fillers, scribes, kickboards, end panels, doors, drawers, hardware, and board thicknesses.
Producing clear drawings that can be reviewed by PSJ before issue to customer for approval.
Updating drawings based on internal review marks or client changes.
Following PSJ drafting standards, naming conventions, library settings, and production rules.
Communicating questions clearly when information is missing or unclear.
5. Required Skills
Candidates should ideally have:
Experience in Microvellum, preferably with cabinet/joinery projects.
Strong understanding of cabinet construction and joinery detailing.
Ability to read architectural plans, dimensions, elevations, and site sketches.
Experience creating shop drawings or production drawings.
High attention to detail and ability to follow standards.
Good written English communication.
Ability to work independently and ask clear technical questions.
Reliable internet, suitable computer, and ability to work with remote teams.
6. Highly Desirable Skills
These are not mandatory but should increase candidate priority:
Experience with Australian joinery or cabinetry standards.
Experience with wardrobe, kitchen, laundry, office, commercial, or retail joinery.
Familiarity with board products, edging, hinges, drawer runners, handles, and hardware schedules.
Experience preparing drawings for CNC production.
Experience with AutoCAD-based workflows.
Ability to work from hand sketches, marked-up PDFs, or site measurements.
Previous remote work with Australian, New Zealand, US, or UK clients
