JOB OVERVIEW

We're 1108 Vocal Studio, a growing online vocal education company. We teach singers around the world, and our website is often the first impression people have of our brand. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building web pages that are fast, clean, and thoughtfully put together.

You'll work directly with our team, have real ownership over the projects you build, and play an important role in how our website grows.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in writing clean code, and cares about building websites that perform well for both users and search engines. As AI search continues to evolve, we're also thinking about how our content is discovered beyond traditional Google search, so you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting technical challenges beyond routine website maintenance.

This is a hands-on development role. If you're primarily a page builder user and don't enjoy writing code, this probably isn't the right fit. We're looking for someone who's comfortable writing custom code and enjoys understanding how things actually work.

You'll also be working directly with us. We're a small team that values good communication, quality work, and people who take pride in what they build.

How This Role Starts

We like to hire carefully because we're looking for someone who can grow with us long-term. The role begins with a fully paid trial project, and we'll only ask one candidate to complete it. If it's a great fit for both of us, we'd love for this to become a full-time role.

The Paid Trial Project
- Build a VSL-style sales page in WordPress
- Build the checkout page in SamCart
- Build the upsell pages in SamCart
- Write clean, organized, maintainable code that's optimized for performance, SEO, and AI search visibility

We'll share the full project scope, assets, and brand guidelines with candidates who move forward after the initial screening.

What You'll Need
- Strong HTML and CSS skills.
- Comfortable editing WordPress theme files and writing custom code.
- Solid WordPress backend experience.
- Working knowledge of DNS (domains, subdomains, DNS records).
- Experience with SamCart or a similar checkout/funnel platform (or the ability to learn it quickly).
- Good understanding of on-page SEO.
- Comfortable using AI tools to work more efficiently while still knowing how to evaluate and improve the code they generate.
- A strong eye for design and user experience. You'll make real decisions about layout, hierarchy, spacing, and flow, not simply recreate someone else's design.
- Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to Have
- Experience building VSLs or high-converting sales pages
- Familiarity with AI search optimization and how LLMs discover and reference website content
- Experience improving Core Web Vitals and overall site performance
