JOB OVERVIEW

Benchmark is a US-based construction AI takeoff and design service. Builders and lumber yards send us their plans. We build a complete model of the structure, then deliver trade-verified material takeoffs they can bid from. Our process is AI-accelerated, our outputs are human-verified, and our standard is that the numbers hold up on a real job site.
We pay at the top of the market for this role because we only hire people who clear a very high bar. Most applicants do not pass our assessment. Read this posting fully before deciding to apply.

The role
• You will learn a construction method you have never used. Philippine construction is concrete and steel. US residential construction is timber framing. You will learn it from zero, along with the US residential building code. We want people who find that genuinely interesting.
• You will learn our internal takeoff system from scratch. Prior software experience matters far less than how fast you learn. We will train you on our system, prior experience with other estimating software is useful.
• Hours: we run 24-hour operations. Shifts vary, and some team members are required to work night shift supporting US Eastern Time. Core hours are typically between 12:00pm and 11:00pm PH time. State your availability honestly in your application.
• Selection is demanding. Our assessment tests spatial reasoning and problem-solving under pressure. It is hard by design, because it predicts who succeeds in this work. If you test well and think in three dimensions, this is your advantage.
• What you get: USD $5-$10 per hour depending on capability and role, plus performance bonuses.
- Paid training on US construction methods.
- Growth with an early-stage US company where output quality is noticed.

Requirements
• Ability to read construction plans, or the demonstrated capacity to learn fast
• Strong applied math: areas, volumes, unit conversions, reading dimensions from plans
• Excellent spatial reasoning and attention to detail
• Advanced English fluency (reading, writing, speaking), including technical documents
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Reliable home internet and own workspace
• 0+ years of experience. Fresh graduates in Quantity Surveying, Civil or Structural Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
• No engineering license required. Board passers and non-board passers both welcome.

Not required/But valuable
• Takeoff software experience (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, etc.). We train on our own system.
• US or Australian work experience. Exposure helps, curiosity matters more.

How selection works
1. Application with the three questions below
2. Manual review of written answers
3. Cognitive assessment: a 1-hourspatial reasoning and problem-solving exam; most applicants do not pass
4. Interview

How to apply
Begin your application with the word BENCHMARK so we know you read this posting fully. Applications without it will not be reviewed.
Then answer these three questions (short paragraphs, your own words):
1. Describe something technical you taught yourself without being told to. How did you go about it?
2. We run 24-hour operations and some roles require night shift (US Eastern Time). What shifts can you work, and what would and would not work for you?
3. What do you know, or want to know, about how Americans build houses out of wood?
