About the role
We run several YouTube channels producing documentary and factual content , investigative, engineering, food history, military/aviation and bodycam-style videos. We're hiring 3 experienced video editors to join our pipeline long-term.
This is not an entry-level role. You will be handed footage, a script and an editor plan, and you're expected to deliver a finished, publish-ready video without me chasing you or fixing your work. If you need step-by-step supervision, this role is not for you.
What you'll be doing
Editing long-form YouTube videos (8–25 minutes) from supplied footage, scripts and voiceover
Working across different editing styles depending on the channel, cinematic documentary, fast-cut factual, bodycam/dashcam, engineering explainer
Cutting Shorts and vertical clips from long-form videos
Sourcing and slotting in appropriate B-roll where the plan calls for it
Sound design, music beds, ducking, basic colour work
Adding text overlays, lower thirds, maps, arrows, simple motion graphics
Delivering on deadline, in the correct export settings, first time
Requirements — please read before applying
Proven experience as a VIDEO EDITOR. Not as a VA, not as a general "multimedia specialist", not as a graphic designer who also edits. Video editing must be your main craft.
Minimum 2 years editing YouTube content specifically (portfolio must show actual published YouTube videos)
Comfortable switching between editing styles, you can look at a reference video and match its pacing, tone and visual language
Strong grasp of retention editing: hooks, pattern interrupts, pacing, cutting dead air
Fluent in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut (tell me which)
Reliable internet and a machine that can handle 4K footage
Good written English, you need to understand a script and an editor brief without me re-explaining it
Able to work with cloud file transfers (Google Drive /
Bonus (not essential)
After Effects for motion graphics
Experience with archive/stock footage-heavy documentary edits
Topaz Video AI or similar upscaling experience
