JOB OVERVIEW

# Grant Research and Applications Specialist

## About Carbon Bridge Central Asia

Carbon Bridge Central Asia, or CBCA, is a commercial company based in Kazakhstan and working across Central Asia. We are not a nonprofit organization, association, charity, or NGO.

We develop climate and environmental projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon removals, restore ecosystems, and support sustainable development. Kazakhstan is our main market, although we also consider opportunities in other Central Asian countries and the Caucasus, including Georgia.

Our work currently covers three main areas.

The first is afforestation and ecosystem restoration. CBCA is developing forestry projects near the Kapchagay Reservoir and in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan. These projects are located near national parks and are intended to combat desertification, restore natural forest cover, increase biodiversity, and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We also have a wider pipeline of forestry and land restoration concepts, including potential environmental rehabilitation near the former Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site.

The second area is technology-based emissions reduction. We develop projects involving the inspection of natural gas pipeline systems, identification and repair of methane leaks, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, small-scale renewable energy, and other technologies that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The third area is sustainable agriculture. We are assessing projects involving natural cattle feed additives that may reduce methane emissions, as well as sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.

## The Role

CBCA is looking for an experienced Grant Research and Applications Specialist to manage our day-to-day work with grant funding programmes.

The specialist will be responsible for identifying suitable grants, checking whether CBCA and its projects are eligible, preparing and coordinating applications, communicating with grant-making organizations and project partners, and supporting reporting after funding is awarded.

Because CBCA is a Kazakhstan-based commercial company, an important part of the role will be finding programmes that are open to private companies, project developers, SMEs, commercial consortia, or public-private partnerships.

Where CBCA cannot apply directly, the specialist should be able to identify an appropriate application structure involving, for example, a university, research institution, government body, nonprofit organization, development institution, or international partner.

This is a practical and hands-on position. The successful candidate will organize and drive the grant process, while CBCA’s management, technical experts, and financial specialists will provide project-specific information and participate in important meetings where required.

## Main Responsibilities

The specialist will:

* Research grant and technical assistance programmes relevant to climate, forestry, methane reduction, renewable energy, clean technology, sustainable agriculture, and environmental restoration;
* Review official programme documents and assess eligibility, funding amounts, co-financing requirements, deadlines, applicant restrictions, and partner requirements;
* Maintain a structured grant pipeline and prioritize the most relevant opportunities;
* Prepare concept notes, application forms, project descriptions, letters of intent, supporting documents, and other application materials;
* Coordinate project information, budgets, schedules, partner contributions, and required attachments;
* Communicate with grant-making organizations to clarify programme conditions and application procedures;
* Participate in routine calls and coordinate the involvement of CBCA’s management and technical experts in more important discussions;
* Identify and communicate with potential consortium partners;
* Track submitted applications, follow-up requests, decisions, grant obligations, reporting deadlines, and donor requirements;
* Support the preparation of progress reports and other grant-related reporting after funding is awarded.

## Required Experience

Please apply only if you have relevant and verifiable experience in grant research, grant writing, grant applications, grant coordination, or grant management.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently, manage several opportunities and deadlines at the same time, write clearly in English, and conduct accurate research using official sources.

Experience with commercial companies, international projects, government or development programmes, climate-related funding, technical assistance, or consortium applications would be particularly relevant.

Experience limited only to charitable or nonprofit grants may not be sufficient unless the candidate can demonstrate an ability to work with commercial companies and international project structures.

## Application

Please provide:

* Your CV or résumé;
* A short description of your grant-related experience;
* Examples of grants or funding programmes you have researched or supported;
* Information about the types of applicants, sectors, and countries you have worked with;
* Examples of applications, funding summaries, or grant databases, where confidentiality permits;

Compensation - 500 USD / month per 15 hours per week plus %% of each succesfully received grant.
