About Us
MAV Studio is a boutique residential architecture practice based in Wellington, New Zealand. We specialise in high quality renovations, alterations and bespoke new homes.
We are looking for an experienced **Architectural Technician** to build a long term working relationship with our studio.
This is **not** a full time position. Instead, we are looking for someone we can rely on across multiple projects throughout the year as our preferred documentation partner.
The Opportunity
Our team completes all client engagement, site investigations, measured surveys, concept design, developed design and all design decisions in house.
Once a project reaches the detailed design phase, we will hand it over to you to prepare the technical documentation in Revit.
Your role is to accurately document our design intent, not redesign or reinterpret the project.
Initially, work will be project based, with the opportunity for a consistent pipeline of work as our studio continues to grow.
Where practical, we prefer to agree a **fixed fee per project** rather than hourly billing.
Your Responsibilities
* Produce accurate Revit models from our developed design package.
* Prepare detailed construction documentation suitable for New Zealand Building Consent applications.
* Produce plans, elevations, sections, schedules and construction details.
* Revise documentation following our review comments.
* Maintain organised Revit models and file structures.
* Identify missing information, clashes or inconsistencies before documentation progresses.
* Communicate clearly and ask questions where clarification is required.
Required Skills & Experience
* Advanced Revit skills with a minimum of 3 years' experience producing architectural documentation.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Experience producing high quality residential construction documentation.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills and willingness to ask questions rather than make assumptions.
* Experience producing documentation for **New Zealand residential projects is highly preferred**. If you have worked with New Zealand architecture firms, please tell us which firms and describe your role.
* You must have your **own licensed copy of Autodesk Revit** and be responsible for maintaining your software licence and computer hardware.
What Success Looks Like
We're looking for someone who can become an extension of our studio.
The ideal person will:
* Produce accurate documentation with minimal supervision.
* Understand and maintain the design intent throughout the documentation process.
* Be proactive, organised and dependable.
* Take pride in producing high quality work.
* Build a long term working relationship with our team.
To Apply
Please provide:
* Your CV.
* Your portfolio of residential projects.
* Examples of Revit documentation you have personally produced.
* Examples of New Zealand residential projects you have worked on (if applicable).
* If you have worked with New Zealand architecture firms, please tell us which firms and describe your role.
* Your preferred fixed fee structure and your hourly rate for variations outside the agreed scope.
* Your typical turnaround times.
* Your weekly availability.
* Your time zone.
We are looking for a reliable, long term documentation partner who can become an integral part of our studio as we continue to grow.
