Project: Fixed-price freelance development
Client: Australian psychology practice
Platform: Halaxy FHIR API
Initial deployment: One iPad kiosk, followed by a second location
We are seeking an experienced FHIR/API developer to build a small self-service reception kiosk for an Australian psychology practice using Halaxy.
This is deliberately a small MVP integration project, not development of a new practice-management system. Primary requirement
Develop a secure web-based application for an iPad reception kiosk that allows a client arriving for an appointment to:
1. Select CHECK IN FOR MY APPOINTMENT
2. Enter minimal identifying information
3. Securely query Halaxy via its FHIR API
4. Identify the appropriate appointment at that location
5. Update the appointment/attendance status to indicate that the client has arrived
6. Display confirmation
7. Immediately clear patient information and return the kiosk to its home screen
The kiosk will also provide:
BOOK MY NEXT APPOINTMENT – using existing Halaxy practitioner/location-specific booking links
UPDATE MY DETAILS – using Halaxy’s existing secure patient form functionality
I NEED HELP – directing the client to reception
Payment processing will be handled separately through Halaxy and is not part of the development project.
Required experience
Applicants should have demonstrated experience with:
* HL7 FHIR APIs
* REST APIs
* secure authentication/API credentials
* server-side API integrations
* healthcare or other sensitive personal information
* secure web applications
* modern frontend development
* automatic session clearing/timeouts
Experience with Halaxy is desirable but not essential if you have strong FHIR experience.
Security
This application will interact with Australian health information.
The successful developer must understand secure handling of healthcare information and design the system so that:
* API credentials are never exposed on the iPad
* patient information is not unnecessarily stored
* sessions automatically clear
* one client cannot access information belonging to another client
* API access follows the principle of least privilege
* all communications are encrypted
* the system can be hosted appropriately for an Australian healthcare practice
Deliverables
We require:
* working web-based kiosk application
* Halaxy FHIR API integration
* deployment/configuration on one pilot iPad
* testing
* basic technical documentation
* instructions for deployment to our second location
* short post-launch bug-fix period
A detailed Request for Quote/specification is available to shortlisted applicants.
When applying
Please provide:
1. Examples of previous FHIR/HL7 or healthcare API projects.
2. Your experience with FHIR Appointment and Patient resources.
3. Whether you have previously integrated with Halaxy.
4. Your proposed technology stack.
5. How you would protect Halaxy API credentials.
6. Where the application/data would be hosted.
7. Your approximate fixed-price quote or estimated hours.
8. Expected completion timeframe.
9. Your location/time zone.
Please do not propose replacing Halaxy or developing a new booking/payment system. We want a small, secure integration using Halaxy’s existing functionality wherever possible.
