JOB OVERVIEW

TL;DR
Pay: up to AUD $4,000/month (?USD $2,600), depending on experience
Type: Full-time, long-term, remote, with a contract. We work Australian Eastern time — 2–3 hours ahead of the Philippines.
Role: The entire video and design output for an Australian clothing brand
The work: short-form ads and social video, motion graphics, static design, some long-form
The pace: one video a day to start, building to three or four. This is a high-output role.
Before you apply: read the "how to apply" section.

OzJapwear is an Australian clothing brand — Japanese-inspired streetwear, built around our community. Our customers vote each month on what we make, only a handful of designs win, and some releases are capped at 100 units and never restocked. We sell at Australia's biggest culture events, at shopping-centre pop-ups, and online.

We're growing fast, and content is the biggest lever we haven't pulled. The work you make will define how this brand looks and sounds.

----------

The role

You'd work closely with our founder. You'll get the goal and the direction for every piece, so you're never guessing — but we want your thinking too. Spot a trend worth jumping on, or a better angle than the one we gave you, tell us.

We have roughly 1 terabyte of footage and photography in Dropbox that's barely been touched. Turning it into content that performs is the job.

Short-form vertical video — Meta and TikTok ads, plus organic Reels and TikToks. The bulk of the work.
Motion graphics — After Effects. Text animation, transitions, product reveals, drop announcements.
Static design — ad creatives, banners, drop graphics, product layouts and mockups.
Longer-form — event recaps, YouTube, brand pieces. Not weekly, but part of the job.
Organising our Dropbox library in your first few weeks, so it's easy to work from.
What we're looking for

This is a video editing role first. Editing video is the core of the job; graphics design is the second skill on top. If you edit well and also design, you're exactly who we want — but if your background is graphics without strong video editing, this one probably isn't the right fit.

You understand why video performs. On ads: hooks, retention, what to change and what to leave alone when we test variants. On organic: what gets watched, shared and saved instead of scrolled past. If you've made video that ran as paid media, or built an audience organically, say so.

Original beats generic. High production value is welcome — we're not asking for rough. What doesn't work is content that looks like everyone else's: same templates, same transitions, same trending formats.

Hooks and stories. The first 2 seconds d ---------- whether anyone sees the rest. And the content we love has a point and a clear sequence, not clips stitched together. We weight this most heavily.

You're fast. We ramp you up rather than throwing you in: one video a day for your first fortnight while you get a feel for the brand, two a day by weeks three and four, then building toward three or four a day. You won't be inventing every concept — we bring the ad concepts, and much of the volume is variants of what's working plus fresh cuts from the library. It's still a lot, and we'd rather you know that now.

You think for yourself. You'll get the goal and the footage, not a shot list. We want someone who notices what's landing, questions what isn't, and brings their own ideas.

One rule: everything on screen has to be real

People are buying something physical, and it has to look like what they'll receive. Use AI freely as a tool — transcription, captions, rough assembly, upscaling, retouching our own material. But nothing AI-generated ends up on screen: no generated footage, product imagery, scenes or people. (AI music is fine if it's copyright-free.)

Requirements
Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve — whatever you're fastest in
After Effects and Photoshop/Illustrator or Figma — motion and static design are both core, not bonuses
Colour grading, sound design and audio mixing, clean readable captions
Comfortable managing a large media library
Reliable internet, a machine that handles 4K, good written English

Strong bonus: brand and identity design experience — if you've helped shape a brand's look rather than executing someone else's guidelines, tell us.

How to apply

Finished reels only tell us so much — anyone can link to nice clips. What we really want to see is how you work. So the steps below are built to let a good editor show that fast.

Start your reply with the word MATCHA so we know you read this. Then send four things:

1. A 60–90 second Loom — a screen recording of a real edit. Open a recent project and walk us through the timeline — how the edit is built and the thinking behind your choices. This is the best way to show us how you think, and it tells us more than any finished video can. (We mean a recording of your screen and the edit itself — not a piece to camera introducing yourself.) It's the first thing we look at, and we can't really judge your work without it, so please don't skip it.

2. Two or three examples of your work — links only. For each, a quick note on who it was for and what it was. Real client or brand work, please — not personal or travel footage.

3. One static ad or graphic you designed — same details.

4. Three quick answers: an ad you've seen recently that you thought was excellent, and why it worked; what software you use and how long a 30-second edit takes you; your availability and notice period.

What happens next

Shortlist ? screening call ? paid test project (one video and one static, 48-hour turnaround, paid whether or not we move forward) ? final interview ? contract.
