JOB OVERVIEW

READ THIS FIRST
To apply, start your message with the word PETITION and answer the four questions at the end. Applications that skip this get deleted unread. We are testing whether you read instructions carefully, because that is most of this job.

WHO WE ARE
Van Horn Law Group, P.A. is a bankruptcy law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer and business cases in four federal court districts. About 100 people work here, including 15 attorneys. We have been doing this for over a decade and we file cases every single week. This is a real firm with a real pipeline, not a startup testing an idea.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Build Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions from client intake documents, start to finish, under the supervision of a US attorney.
Read and pull numbers from paystubs, tax returns, bank statements, credit reports, mortgage statements, and vehicle loan documents.
Enter debts, assets, income, expenses, and creditor addresses into our petition software accurately the first time.
Complete the schedules, the Statement of Financial Affairs, and the means test worksheet.
Spot missing documents and flag them to the case manager the same day you find the gap, not the next week.
Keep several cases moving at once against hard court deadlines.
Keep case status current in our case management system so the US team always knows exactly where a file stands.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You will like this job if clearing a queue feels good, if you are fast without getting sloppy, and if a long column of numbers to enter energizes you instead of draining you. This is high volume. You will be measured on accuracy first and turnaround second. If you need a quiet job with a light workload, this is not it.

REQUIRED
At least 1 year preparing US bankruptcy petitions, OR at least 2 years in a US law firm, mortgage servicing, loan processing, insurance claims, medical billing, or accounting role where you handled US financial documents every day.
Strong English reading comprehension. You need to look at a US tax return or a mortgage statement and know what you are reading.
Genuinely comfortable with numbers. You will reconcile income and expenses constantly.
Fast and accurate data entry. We will test this, and the test is paid.
A reliable computer, backup power, and stable internet of at least 25 Mbps. We will ask for a speed test screenshot.
Available during US Eastern business hours.
Able to sign a confidentiality agreement and work inside our secure systems. Our clients' financial information never leaves them.

NICE TO HAVE
Glade, Best Case, NextChapter, Jubilee, or CINcompass experience.
Means test calculation experience.
Experience speaking or writing directly with US clients.

WHAT WE OFFER
Competitive monthly salary in USD, paid on time, every time.
Paid time off plus Philippine holidays.
Full paid training on our systems and our process. If you have the aptitude, we will teach you bankruptcy.
Real advancement. Our senior Philippine tea ---------- mbers lead other people and are paid accordingly.
A long-term seat. We are hiring someone we expect to still be here in five years.

SALARY
We pay at the top of that range for someone who has genuinely prepared US bankruptcy petitions before.

HOW TO APPLY
Start your message with the word PETITION. Then answer these four questions in your own words. Please do not use AI alone to write your answers. We read a lot of these, and we can tell.

1. What bankruptcy or US legal work have you done, what software did you use, and roughly how many petitions have you prepared start to finish?
2. What is the difference between Schedule I and Schedule J, and what does it mean if the bottom line of Schedule J is negative?
3. A client sends you one paystub dated four months before the filing date and nothing else. What do you do next, and why?
4. How many hours per week can you work, and what hours in Philippine time are you available?
Attach your resume and tell us your expected monthly salary in USD. We reply to every applicant who follows these instructions.
