Built Simple is building construction software that makes running a building business simpler. Our platform brings estimating, scheduling, project management, customer management, reporting and AI-powered tools into one connected system.

We move quickly, use modern AI-assisted development tools and continuously release new features across our web and mobile applications.

Our product team currently includes three developers and a dedicated QA tester. We’re now looking for a full-time UX/UI Product Designer based in the Philippines to bring greater consistency, usability and design quality to the product.

The Role
You will take ownership of UX/UI design across the Built Simple web and mobile applications. You’ll work directly with our founders, developers and QA tester to turn ideas, customer feedback and product requirements into clear user flows, polished interfaces and developer-ready prototypes.

Our developers will handle implementation. Your responsibility will be to provide them with strong product thinking, clear designs and a consistent system to follow.

This is not simply a role for someone who makes screens look attractive. We need someone who understands how users move through software, can simplify complicated workflows and can explain the reasoning behind their design decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the UX/UI direction across the Built Simple web and mobile applications
- Turn rough concepts and product requirements into clear user flows, wireframes and high-fidelity designs
- Create interactive prototypes in Figma
- Simplify complex construction and business workflows
- Improve navigation, usability and consistency across the platform
- Design responsive experiences for desktop, tablet and mobile
- Create and maintain a practical, scalable design system
- Produce organised, developer-ready Figma files
- Document important interactions, states and responsive behaviour
- Work closely with developers throughout implementation
- Review completed features for visual accuracy and usability
- Collaborate with QA before features are released
- Use customer feedback and product insights to identify improvements
- Consider complete user experiences, including onboarding, forms, notifications, errors, loading states and empty states
- Challenge unclear requirements and recommend better solutions when appropriate

What We’re Not Looking For
- This role is not suited to someone who:
- Is primarily a graphic, branding or social media designer
- Focuses only on colours and visual styling
- Creates attractive screens without considering the complete user journey
- Designs concepts that are unrealistic or unnecessarily difficult to build
- Requires perfectly detailed instructions before starting
- Copies design trends without understanding the customer problem
- Hands over a Figma file without supporting implementation
- Requires constant direction to make progress
- Intends to manage this role alongside several other full-time clients or positions

Required Experience
- Professional experience in UX/UI or product design
- A strong portfolio demonstrating genuine software product design
- Experience designing SaaS platforms, dashboards or workflow-based applications
- Experience designing responsive web applications
- Experience designing mobile applications
- Advanced Figma capability
- Experience creating interactive prototypes
- Experience building or maintaining design systems
- Experience working directly with software developers
- Strong written and spoken English
- The ability to explain the problem, process and reasoning behind your work
- The ability to work effectively in a remote team

Nice to Have
- Experience with construction, project management or field-service software
- Experience designing software with multiple users, roles and permissions
- Experience improving an existing SaaS platform
- Experience conducting user interviews or usability testing
- Understanding of accessibility standards
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Experience working with React-based applications or component libraries
- Experience with design tokens
- Experience working in a startup or fast-growing product team
- Experience designing AI-powered features
- Experience using AI tools within design and product workflows

- Our developers will be responsible for implementing your designs.
- You will work alongside them throughout the process rather than simply handing over designs and moving on. You’ll answer questions, review implementation and help the team find practical solutions when technical constraints arise.

- We want enough design structure to improve quality and consistency without creating unnecessary process or slowing the team down.

Role Structure
- Full-time position
- Remote role based in the Philippines
