JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT US

Shopper Approved is an established US-based SaaS company serving about 3,000 clients. We run an AWS-hosted PHP/Laravel platform and work asynchronously with a development team in Pakistan. Our staff is distributed across the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines. This is a permanent, full-time, 100% remote role.

THE ROLE

You own the infrastructure side of a live production SaaS platform. You keep it healthy and recoverable, you make deployments safer, and you replace manual server work with automation that actually holds up. A separate specialist owns employee IT and helpdesk — you will never be asked to reset someone's password or fix a printer.

This is a real production-ownership role. You will hold privileged access to systems that 3,000 paying clients depend on. We are looking for someone who has carried that weight before and treats it seriously.

READ THIS FIRST — SCHEDULE

Working hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM US Mountain Time, Monday through Friday.

In Philippine time that is:

9:00 PM to 6:00 AM PHT (mid-March through early November)
10:00 PM to 7:00 AM PHT (early November through mid-March)

Yes, this is a permanent night shift. The one-hour move twice a year is US daylight saving; the Philippines does not observe it, so your local hours shift with ours. Only apply if you can hold this schedule reliably, year-round, long term.

The upside of this schedule: you overlap with US leadership for essentially your entire shift, and with our development team in Pakistan for roughly the first five hours. You will not be working in isolation.

Occasional approved maintenance windows or critical i ---------- may fall outside your regular hours. This is not continuous 24/7 on-call coverage, and we do not expect you to be reachable around the clock.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Day-to-day AWS and Linux production infrastructure operations
Ubuntu application servers, Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, queues, workers, scheduled jobs, TLS, storage, and capacity
EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, monitoring, backup, restoration, i ---------- triage, and cost signals
Golden/base AMI creation, patching, validation, promotion, rollback, and retirement
Datadog and CloudWatch observability, and alerts that are actually actionable
Platform readiness, post-deploy validation, and rollback support for deployments initiated by our development partner from Bitbucket
Infrastructure automation, source-controlled operational change, runbooks, and clean asynchronous handoffs
Reviewed security, IAM, network, backup, and cost improvements

WHAT YOU WILL NOT OWN

Employee laptops, SaaS access, email quarantine, onboarding/offboarding, printers, or office helpdesk
Application feature development
Unilateral high-risk architecture changes or production-network migration
Any physical or onsite work
Sole 24/7 coverage

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Three or more years of hands-on Linux and cloud operations, or equivalent depth you can demonstrate
Production AWS work with EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, monitoring, and backups
Production web operations with Nginx or Apache, plus real process and service troubleshooting
Repeatable patching, image creation, configuration management, or infrastructure-as-code
Deployment, rollback, i ---------- response, and restoration you have actually tested — not just configured
Bash, Python, or another practical automation language
Strong written English and sound judgment with privileged production access
A reliable primary internet connection and a practical backup plan (mobile data, second ISP, or a nearby fallback location)

HELPFUL, NOT REQUIRED

PHP/Laravel, PHP-FPM, Supervisor, or Laravel Horizon operations
Datadog APM, logs, and metrics; Cloudflare
Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Packer, or EC2 Image Builder
Migrating legacy infrastructure into something repeatable
SOC 2 or another evidence-driven control environment

WHAT WE PROVIDE

Genuine ownership of the platform, with the authority to fix root causes instead of patching symptoms
Direct access to US leadership during your shift — no layers between you and a decision
A documented environment and a defined scope
Long-term stability; we are hiring for years, not for a project

COMPENSATION

$1200 USD per month, depending on demonstrated experience and the final employment arrangement. Local-currency payment, benefits, leave, holidays, equipment, and after-hours terms will be written into the offer. Night-shift hours are reflected in the rate.

HOW WE HIRE

A structured screen focused on production systems you personally owned
A scenario-based technical and security interview
A paid 90-minute synthetic production-i ---------- assessment
A live defense of your work, with the facts changed on you
References from people who directly observed your production work

HOW TO APPLY

Start your application with the word SNAPSHOT so we know you read the whole posting. Applications without it are not reviewed.

Then answer these six questions directly. Be specific — vague answers get filtered immediately.

Describe the largest production environment you personally operated. How many servers, roughly what traffic, and what was your actual scope of responsibility?
Walk us through one production i ---------- you handled end to end. What broke, how did you find it, what did you do, and what did you change afterward so it could not happen again?
Have you personally performed a real restore from backup — not a configuration, an actual restore? Describe it.
What have you automated that replaced manual server work? Tools, approach, and what it saved.
Confirm you can reliably work 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM PHT (10:00 PM to 7:00 AM during US winter), Monday through Friday, year-round. Describe your internet setup and your backup plan.
What monthly rate are you looking for?

Please do not send a generic cover letter or a copy-pasted résumé blast. We read every application that follows these instructions.
