About the Role
We're a Canadian digital marketing agency looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed writer to join our content team. This is a full-time, long-term role — not a gig. You'll write newsletters and blog posts, build creative briefs, and own quality control across our content. That means reading copy, watching social media videos, and communicating directly with our design and development teams to get errors fixed before content reaches the Director of Content or goes to clients.
If you can write clearly in English, catch errors others miss, and care about the work being right — not just done — this is your role.
You'll report directly to our Director of Content.
What You'll Do
Write and edit newsletters, blog posts, and
Build creative briefs for social media content based on client direction and brand voice
QA social media content — including short-form video — checking for errors in text, spelling, tone, brand alignment, timing, and anything that looks off
Catch errors in content and communicate them clearly to the relevant team (design, development) so they get fixed before content reaches the Director of Content or goes to clients
Follow SOPs and video walkthroughs to complete tasks independently
Flag issues clearly and early — in writing — so nothing slips through
What We're Looking For
Fluent English is non-negotiable — you write naturally, catch grammatical errors instantly, and know when something just sounds wrong
Sharp eye for discrepancies — in text, in video, in numbers, in tone
Comfortable watching short-form social video with a critical eye (catching things like wrong captions, mismatched audio, brand errors, cut-off text, pacing issues)
Able to follow written and video-based instructions and complete tasks without hand-holding
Self-directed and communicates proactively — you flag problems before they become deadlines
Organized — you track what you've reviewed, what passed, and what needs fixing
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience reviewing or producing content at a marketing agency
Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Basecamp, Slack, or social scheduling tools
Experience writing for social media or
Why Work With Us
Long-term, stable role with a team that communicates clearly
You'll own a meaningful part of our quality control process — not just execute tasks
How to Apply
We read every application carefully, and we're hiring for attention to detail — so follow these steps exactly.
1. Start your application message with the word MARIGOLD as the very first word.
2. In your own words, answer these three questions. Number them 1, 2, 3:
1. Describe a time you caught a mistake in content before it went out. What was it, and what did you do?
2. Describe your QA process. What are the first three things you check when reviewing a piece of content?
3. What's wrong with this sentence?
“The campaign reached 14,000 people in March and 11,500 people in April, showing a 28% increase in reach month-over-month.”
3. Tell us your typical available hours in EST. This role requires overlap with Canadian mornings — you must be available 8am–12pm EST. Remaining hours can be completed flexibly.
Strong applicants will be invited to a short live call. We move quickly for the right person.
