POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This individual will be responsible for daily bank reconciliations, recording financial transactions, and supporting the month-end close and payroll. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, deadline driven, and a proactive communicator who takes ownership of assigned work, follows through to completion, and flags issues early. This is an excellent opportunity to build experience across the full accounting cycle in a fast-growing healthcare company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform daily bank reconciliations, including review of bank account activity and balances across all accounts
• Record cash receipts, payments, and other financial transactions accurately in NetSuite
• Support the month-end close, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations under the direction of the Accounting Manager
• Support caregiver payroll processing, including data preparation, verification, documentation and inquiries
• Assist with resolving open and historical accounting items, including reconciliation clean-up in NetSuite
• Support annual audit and tax preparation by gathering documentation and preparing requested schedules
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting and year-end filings such as 1099s
• Keep assigned tasks updated and visibly tracked in Asana, and communicate status and potential delays proactively
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as requested by the Accounting Manager and Head of Finance
• Protect the company's and clients' rights to privacy by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
• Continually seek opportunities for innovation and process improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1 to 3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits, accruals, and reconciliations
• Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, hit deadlines, and follow up with a sense of urgency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort corresponding with vendors and internal teams
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system a plus
• Experience in healthcare or home care a plus
