We’re looking for a technically minded generalist who wants to learn how startups find customers and grow. You’ll work directly with the founder to d
This is not a narrowly defined appointment-setting role. It is also not a strategy position where you create presentations and hand the work to someone else. You will help figure out what we should try, set up the experiment, execute it, track what happened, and recommend what we should do next.
The role is a good fit for someone who is intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to move between strategic thinking and detailed execution. You might be a recent computer science graduate, junior engineer, analyst, or technical builder who is interested in business—not just programming. We can teach you sales, marketing, and go-to-market strategy. You should bring curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to execute.
What You’ll Do
- Use GenAI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to research markets, develop GTM plans, generate campaign ideas, and explore customer segments
- Critically evaluate AI-generated work rather than accepting the first answer
- Turn broad ideas into practical experiments, tasks, messages, and timelines
- Research prospects and build targeted lead lists
- Write and manage cold
- Test different audiences, messages, offers, and outreach channels
- Set up simple tracking systems for outreach and funnel performance
- Analyze response rates, meetings, objections, and conversion patterns
- Summarize what worked, what did not, and what we should try next
- Take on other business, growth, and research projects as needed
What We’re Looking For
- You may be early in your career or more experienced. We care more about judgment, curiosity, and execution than experience.
- You have a technical, analytical, or quantitative background
- Recent Computer Science college graduates ideal
You should be someone who:
- Uses AI aggressively but applies your own judgment
- Can tell the difference between a useful plan and convincing-sounding nonsense
- Takes initiative without needing perfect instructions
- Is comfortable running experiments that may fail
Experience in outbound sales, lead generation, growth marketing, market research, analytics, or startups is helpful but not required.
Example Assignment
We think a particular type of company may need our product.
You would research the market, identify the likely buyer, develop several outreach approaches, select the most credible ones, build a prospect list, run a small campaign, track the results, and recommend whether we should continue.
Working Arrangement
- Long-term contractor
- Work directly with the founder
- Opportunity to take on more ownership over time, including equity-based compensation
To Apply
Send a short note and a couple of examples of things you’ve built, shipped, or led (school projects, side hustles, internships, doesn’t matter - show a bias for action). Please include “Ayla BizOps - “ in the subject line.
