# Remote Experienced Medical Biller
A busy cardiothoracic medical group is seeking an experienced **Medical Biller** to join its team remotely. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with both inpatient and outpatient medical billing, claim submission, payment posting, payer enrollment, and denial management.
## Position Details
* **Work arrangement:** Fully remote
* **Schedule:** Full-time, 40 hours per week
* **Compensation:** $5 per hour
* **Experience level:** Experienced medical biller
* **Preferred background:** Cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, or another surgical specialty
## Responsibilities
* Submit accurate inpatient and outpatient claims electronically
* Review claims for correct patient information, insurance details, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, modifiers, and place-of-service information
* Post electronic remittance advice and explanation-of-benefit payments accurately
* Reconcile payments, contractual adjustments, patient balances, and insurance balances
* Set up electronic funds transfers and electronic remittance enrollment with insurance payers
* Track submitted claims and follow up on unpaid, rejected, or underpaid claims
* Review and correct clearinghouse and payer claim rejections
* Investigate and resolve insurance denials
* Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals
* Follow up with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance plans, and managed-care organizations
* Work aging reports and prioritize claims approaching timely-filing deadlines
* Identify recurring denial patterns and communicate billing issues to management
* Verify that supporting documentation is available when required for claim processing or appeals
* Maintain detailed account notes and document all payer follow-up activity
* Assist with additional billing and administrative duties as assigned, insurance verification and prior authorization.
* Review operative reports and supporting medical documentation to determine the correct CPT codes, ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, modifiers, and units to bill. The candidate must be able to interpret cardiothoracic surgical procedures, identify separately billable services, and recognize when additional documentation or provider clarification is needed.
## Qualifications
* Previous medical billing experience is required
* Experience billing both inpatient and outpatient services
* Cardiothoracic, cardiology, hospital, or surgical billing experience is strongly preferred
* Experience submitting claims electronically through a practice-management system or clearinghouse
* Strong knowledge of payment posting, electronic remittance advice, and explanation-of-benefit processing
* Experience setting up EFT and ERA enrollment with insurance payers
* Strong denial-management and insurance follow-up experience
* Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance billing requirements
* Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, place-of-service codes, and claim forms
* Ability to read and understand payer correspondence, remittance advice, and denial codes
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent written and spoken English
* Ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines independently
* Reliable computer, high-speed internet, and a quiet remote workspace
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
