We run Weird World, a YouTube channel covering the strange and unexplained, ghosts, UFOs, alien encounters, reincarnation, timeslips, disappearances and real-world mysteries. Our style is documentary, atmospheric, and slow-burn.
We're looking for one reliable editor to become part of the team long-term. We supply the scripts and voiceover audio and you bring it to life visually. No AI.
What you'll be doing
- Create 4 videos a week, ranging from 12 to 15 minutes long.
- Sourcing and placing the right visuals to match the narration beat by beat - footage, images, maps, archival material, and subtle motion/parallax where it helps.
- Emphasising the location of each story. Show us where it happened. The town, the forest, the building, the road. Wide establishing shots, the setting itself as a character
- Keeping people small in the frame. We rarely want faces or crowds front and centre. Distant, sparse figures within a wider environment work far better than close-ups of individuals. It keeps the eerie, "you are a witness from a distance" feeling.
- Slow-burn pacing - let shots breathe, hold on atmosphere, build tension gradually rather than cutting rapidly. Think unsettling calm, not frantic energy
- Clean, accurate sync between visuals and voiceover
What we're looking for
- Proven experience editing long-form YouTube content (please send a portfolio or links)
- A strong eye for mood, atmosphere and pacing — show us you understand slow-burn storytelling
- Skill at finding good visuals and knowing what's copyright-safe / properly licensed Reliable, communicates clearly in writing, and hits deadlines consistently;
- Comfortable taking direction and feedback, and improving across revisions
How this works
1. Paid test video first. One full video so we can both see if it's a fit. This is genuine paid work, not a free trial.
2. If we're happy, we move to a regular 4-videos-a-week arrangement.
To apply
Please send:
1. A short intro about yourself and your editing experience
2. Links to 2–3 long-form videos you've edited (the more atmospheric or documentary style, the better)
3. Your rate (per month rate)
4. Your weekly availability and time zone
5. To show you actually read this, start your message with the word "Timeslip"
6. We read every genuine application and reply to shortlisted candidates. We're friendly, clear with direction, and easy to work with.
