IMPORTANT: This is not a general social media manager position, and it is not primarily a video-editing role.
We are looking for a direct-response creative strategist who can conduct deep customer research, uncover powerful advertising angles, write persuasive video scripts, analyze ad performance, and collaborate with video editors to turn ideas into winning Meta ads for a scaling DTC e-commerce brand.
You will help d
ABOUT THE COMPANY
We are building a direct-to-consumer health and wellness brand serving customers throughout the United States.
The brand is currently generating approximately $50,000 per month in revenue with a unique, differentiated product that has substantial room to grow. Our goal is to build a serious creative operation, dramatically increase our testing volume, and scale aggressively throughout Q4 and beyond.
I have previously scaled another ecommerce brand to more than $300,000 per month, primarily through direct-response paid advertising.
You would be joining as an early creative hire and working closely with the founder. You will play a major role in developing the creative system responsible for taking the brand to its next stage.
If you perform well, there is significant opportunity to grow into a senior creative strategist, creative manager, or creative director as we hire more strategists, editors, designers, and researchers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting deep customer, competitor, product, and market research
* Studying customer reviews, Reddit discussions, forums, competitor ads, advertorials, landing pages, scientific research, and other relevant sources
* Using AI tools intelligently to accelerate and deepen your research
* Identifying customer pain points, desires, objections, fears, failed solutions, and buying motivations
* Developing fresh advertising angles, hooks, concepts, and creative hypotheses
* Writing direct-response video scripts from beginning to end
* Creating detailed creative briefs covering visual direction, B-roll, AI-generated scenes, voiceover, pacing, captions, and overall execution. You will not be generating AI scenes/voiceovers, or finding the B-roll. The video editor you work with will do that.
* Communicating with video editors and guiding them through production
* Reviewing video drafts and giving clear, actionable feedback
* Studying Meta ad performance and identifying why an ad is succeeding or failing
* Developing new hooks, variations, iterations, and concepts based on performance data
* Following current ecommerce advertising and creative trends without blindly copying them (you will be given access to a spytool to get ideas on what other brands are doing)
* Maintaining organized research, angle, hook, script, and creative-testing documents
* Helping us steadily increase creative volume without sacrificing quality
THE TYPES OF ADS WE WILL CREATE
We will test a wide variety of direct-response video ads, but the majority will include:
* Mini VSLs between 2 and 5 minutes
* AI UGC advertisements
* Authority-led and educational ads
* Customer-story and problem-solution ads
* Testimonial-style ads
* Advertorial-driven videos
* Shorter hook, script, and concept variations based on winning ads
You will not be editing the video.
However, you must understand video advertising well enough to give editors precise direction, evaluate drafts critically, and recognize whether an execution is strong or weak.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You may be a strong fit if you:
* Understand direct-response marketing and ecommerce advertising
* Can conduct deep research and turn it into useful customer insights
* Can write emotionally compelling, persuasive video scripts
* Know how to capture attention without relying entirely on cheap clickbait
* Understand hooks, leads, mechanisms, offers, objections, proof, and calls to action
* Understand how customer awareness levels affect messaging
* Can develop genuinely different concepts rather than superficial hook rewrites
* Can explain why an angle should work instead of simply saying it feels creative
* Can interpret ad performance and use it to d
* Can collaborate effectively with video editors
* Can give specific, actionable feedback on video drafts
* Have excellent written English and storytelling ability
* Are highly resourceful, independent, organized, and detail-oriented
* Stay current on AI tools, advertising formats, and ecommerce trends
* Can use AI without producing generic, repetitive, AI-sounding work
* Care deeply about performance and are willing to keep improving an idea through multiple iterations
Experience with health, wellness, supplements, or customers aged 40 and older is helpful, but it is not required if your direct-response fundamentals are strong.
HELPFUL TOOLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with any of the following is useful:
* Meta Ads Library
* Foreplay, GetHookd, Trendtrack or similar creative-research platforms
* ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or other AI research and writing tools
* Reddit, Amazon reviews, customer surveys, and competitor research
* Google Docs, Google Sheets, Notion, or similar organizational tools
You do not need to use every tool listed. We care much more about how you think and the quality of the work you produce.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
A strong creative strategist in this role will consistently:
* Find customer insights that other advertisers overlook
* Develop genuinely different concepts instead of repeating the same message
* Write clear, persuasive scripts that video editors can execute
* Provide editors with detailed and actionable creative direction
* Learn from both winning and losing ads
* Turn winning elements into new iterations without simply duplicating the original
* Identify patterns across hooks, angles, formats, avatars, and offers
* Help us increase creative output while maintaining strategic quality
* Take increasing ownership of our research and creative-testing systems
* Produce ads that reach meaningful levels of profitable spend
COMPENSATION AND PERFORMANCE BONUSES
We intend for this to become a long-term, full-time role.
Compensation will include:
* A stable monthly base salary based on your experience and demonstrated ability. We are offering $10/hour for 40 hours a week.
* A $300 performance bonus for every ad you create that reaches at least $5,000 in spend while maintaining a ROAS of 1.5 or higher. We are a heavy subscription brand with a 80%+ sub take rate so a ROAS of 1.5 is a winning ad for us.
* Additional bonuses tied to company growth and performance
* The opportunity to advance into a senior or managerial creative position
* Higher earning potential as your responsibility and impact increase
We want to directly reward the people who create ads that generate profitable, scalable growth.
As the brand grows, we would be willing to develop an even more lucrative performance structure in which proven strategists earn a percentage of the advertising spend generated by their winning ads.
Someone who consistently creates scalable winners should have the opportunity to earn significantly more than a fixed salary.
You will begin with a short trial project to assess your thinking before we make a long-term hiring decision.
This is an early opportunity to join a brand already generating approximately $50,000 per month, help build its creative department, and benefit directly from the growth you help create.
We are looking to scale aggressively to $1M/month as soon as possible.
LONG-TERM GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
If you perform well, you could eventually take ownership of:
* Customer and market research
* Creative strategy
* Angle and concept development
* VSL and video-ad scriptwriting
* Creative performance analysis
* AI-assisted research and production workflows
* Managing video editors, researchers, writers, and designers
* Developing our creative-testing systems
* Training future strategists and scriptwriters
* Building and leading the creative department as the brand scales
We are not looking for someone who only wants simple, repetitive tasks.
We want someone hungry, creative, analytical, and excited about helping build a major ecommerce brand from an early stage.
HOW TO APPLY
Use the phrase “SPARKLE” in your application subject line so we know you read the entire post.
Please include:
1. A brief explanation of your direct-response ecommerce experience.
2. Your best video ads, VSLs, scripts, creative briefs, or other relevant portfolio examples that you ideated and researched.
3. A clear explanation of exactly what you personally contributed to each example:
* Research
* Strategy
* Angle development
* Concept development
* Hook writing
* Scriptwriting
* Creative direction
* Editing
* Performance analysis or iteration
4. Examples for which you personally developed the concept and wrote the copy—not only ads you edited or managed.
5. Any performance information you are permitted to share, such as:
* Advertising spend
* ROAS
* CPA
* CTR
* Conversion rate
* How long the creative continued performing
6. A brief explanation of how you would research a new product and customer avatar before writing an advertisement.
7. An example of how you previously used ad-performance data to create a successful variation or new concept.
8. The AI tools you use and an explanation of how you use them without producing generic work.
9. Your current availability and desired monthly salary.
Please do not apply with only a generic graphic-design, organic social-media, or video-editing portfolio.
We need someone capable of thinking through the complete creative process:
Research, customer psychology, angles, hooks, scripts, visual direction, production feedback, performance analysis, and iteration.
This is a serious opportunity for someone who is hungry, independent, creative, analytical, and interested in helping build something large.
If you are reliable and can consistently help us create ads that perform, there is substantial long-term upside.
