About Table Eighteen
Table Eighteen produces luxury hardcover coffee table books that document beloved local restaurants through real
photography and storytelling. Each book is a bespoke, editorial-quality object — the kind of thing a restaurant owner is proud
to put on their host stand and their best customers want on their coffee table. We're a small, fast-moving team, and design is
at the center of what we sell.
The Role
We're looking for a graphic designer to own the visual production pipeline for our books — from cover concepts through
final print-ready files. You'll work closely with our founder on cover approval and with our production team on layout and
assets. This is a hands-on production role: strong software skills matter as much as taste.
What You'll Do
? Design book covers in Photoshop and Illustrator, and with AI image-generation tools, producing polished mockups
for owner and client approval
? Build out book maps (page-by-page layout plans) in collaboration with Claude, translating photo assets and story
content into a structured book flow
? Generate supplementary images with AI tools when original photography doesn't cover a needed shot
? Assemble final files in Adobe InDesign — typography, page layout, spine and dust jacket, print-ready output
? Keep every project consistent with T18's brand standards: editorial, lifestyle-forward photography treatment (no
harsh flash, no menu-photography look), a forest green and gold palette, and Cormorant Garamond / DM Sans
typography
? Turn around revisions quickly based on feedback from the founder and restaurant partners
What We're Looking For
? Strong working proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
? Experience generating and refining images with AI tools (Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or similar)
? Comfortable using Claude (or similar AI tools) as part of a design/production workflow, not just as a novelty
? A portfolio that shows editorial, luxury, or lifestyle design sensibility — we care a lot about taste and restraint
? Reliable, self-directed, and communicative working async with a small remote team
? Strong English communication for feedback and revision loops
Nice to Have
? Print production experience — bleeds, spine width calculations, dust jackets
? Background in photo retouching or color grading (filmic, warm, true black-and-white)
? Prior experience on coffee table books, magazines, or other luxury print work
Details
? Type: Contract / freelance, remote
? Pay: $5–$10/hour, based on skill and experience
? Hours: Flexible, project-based deliverables with regular check-ins
? Reports to: Founder, Table Eighteen
