Remote | Independent Contractor | Initial 3-Month Term
We are seeking a Full Stack Web Developer to help build a scalable e-commerce platform for a growing sports card and collectibles business.
The initial focus will be developing a professional website, connecting Shopify and eBay through APIs, organizing inventory through custom SKUs, and creating the foundation for future customer and consignor dashboards.
Marketing, graphic design, and daily eBay listing responsibilities are handled by our existing operations team.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain a responsive e-commerce website.
Configure and customize Shopify.
Develop integrations between Shopify, eBay, and internal systems.
Synchronize active listings, sold items, orders, inventory status, and custom SKU data.
Design a database for inventory, customers, consignors, sales, and payouts.
Develop secure customer and consignor login access.
Create an internal dashboard for managing inventory, users, and sales activity.
Test, troubleshoot, document, and maintain the platform.
Recommend scalable and cost-effective technical solutions.
Explain technical options and tradeoffs in clear, non-technical language.
Required Qualifications
At least three years of relevant full-stack development experience, or a strong equivalent portfolio.
Experience building customer-facing web applications.
Shopify development and Shopify Admin API experience.
Strong experience integrating third-party REST APIs.
Understanding of OAuth, webhooks, JSON, error handling, and data synchronization.
Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as React.
Backend experience using Node.js, PHP/Laravel, Python, or a comparable framework.
Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or another relational database.
Experience with secure authentication and user permissions.
Working knowledge of Git and code repositories.
Strong written English and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with eBay APIs or another major marketplace API.
Experience with inventory, order, consignment, or customer portal systems.
Experience supporting a U.S.-based business.
Familiarity with sports cards, collectibles, or e-commerce operations.
Direct eBay API experience is strongly preferred but not required. Applicants without eBay experience should demonstrate similar marketplace or inventory integrations.
Initial Priorities
Recommend the appropriate technology stack and project plan.
Establish the website and database foundation.
Connect Shopify and eBay.
Synchronize listings, sales, inventory, and custom SKUs.
Create secure customer and consignor access.
Develop an internal administrative dashboard.
Test and document the completed system.
Not every feature is expected to be completed during the initial three-month engagement. The selected contractor will help establish realistic milestones and priorities.
Ownership and Security
All source code, documentation, accounts, databases, and project assets must remain under company ownership and control. Code must be maintained in a company-accessible repository, and confidential information must be protected.
