I'm launching a golf documentary-style YouTube series and need an editor with a strong sense of mood, pacing, and atmosphere. This is not fast-paced YouTube editing — it's the opposite.
The style:
Slow, intentional, cinematic. Long holds. Shots that breathe.
No fast cuts, no zoom-ins, no whip pans, no jump cuts, no
Natural sound is a priority — birds, wind, footsteps, the sound of the game. Low-fi music, ambient, mood.
Reference channels (please watch before applying): David Fragomeni, Beau Miles, Kraig Adams, Van Neistat, Erik Anders Lang / Adventures in Golf.
The paid test project:
I'll send you raw footage and a written creative brief. You'll cut a 60–90 second atmospheric piece that captures the mood. Paid regardless of outcome. Please quote your flat rate for this test.
What happens after:
The editor whose work best matches the vibe gets ongoing work editing full episodes (roughly 20–30 minutes each, from a structured timeline I provide). Steady, recurring volume.
Requirements:
Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects a plus, not required)
A real eye for pacing, mood, and composition — this is the #1 thing I'm hiring for
Comfortable working with lots of b-roll and natural sound design
Good English communication and reliable turnaround
Portfolio links required — ideally something atmospheric/documentary/travel, not fast-cut vlogs
Not needed: golf knowledge, shot tracers, or heavy motion graphics. Those are handled separately.
To apply:
Start your message with the word SUNSET so I know you read this
Send 1–2 portfolio links (say which parts you edited)
