About Green Training USA
Green Training USA is a nationally accredited online training provider for building performance and energy efficiency certifications, including BPI, RESNET HERS Rater, LEED, radon, mold, and continuing education. Our students are HVAC contractors, energy auditors, and building professionals across the country. Everything we deliver runs online, which means our learning management system and our website are not support functions. They are the business.
Role summary
We are looking for one experienced contractor to be our go-to person for three connected areas of work: our Moodle learning management system, our website, and our marketing video and social media content.
This is not an entry level role and it is not a role for someone learning Moodle on our dime. Moodle does not behave like Teachable, Thinkific, Kajabi, or a standard WordPress LMS plugin. It has its own course structure, its own activity and resource logic, its own gradebook behavior, its own completion tracking rules, and its own way of breaking. We need someone who already knows that system in their hands and can move through it quickly without needing to be walked through the basics.
The right person is independent, responsive, and accountable. You will be given a task and a deadline, and we expect it to come back done, tested, and correct.
Engagement structure
Read this section carefully before applying. It is the part most people skim and then get frustrated by later.
This is an independent contractor position, not employment. You control your own hours, your own equipment, your own taxes, and your own business.
Work is as needed. When we have a project, we contact you, describe the scope, and agree on payment and a deadline before work begins.
Pay fluctuates by task. A quick course edit and a full course build are not the same job and will not be priced the same. We will ask for your rate structure by task type.
You would be our primary contractor for this category of work. We expect to send you work frequently. We are being honest with you that we cannot guarantee volume, and no minimum number of hours or projects is promised.
Your schedule flexes to our needs. We are not asking you to sit and wait by the phone, but we need reliable responsiveness when we reach out.
Projects will sometimes be routine and planned. Others will be urgent, such as a course that has to be live before an enrollment deadline or a site issue affecting students who have already paid.
Core responsibilities
1. Moodle learning management system (primary)
Build and upload new courses, including full course shells, sections, topics, and navigation
Edit and update existing courses, including content revisions, restructuring, and replacing outdated material
Upload and configure course content: SCORM packages, video, PDFs, pages, books, files, folders, and external tool links
Build and maintain quizzes, question banks, exam settings, attempt limits, time limits, randomization, and grading rules
Configure activity completion, course completion, prerequisites, and restrict access conditions so students move through material in the correct order
Manage the gradebook, including categories, weights, aggregation methods, and grade item setup
Set up and troubleshoot certificate issuance and completion credentials
Manage users, cohorts, groups, groupings, enrollment methods, and role assignments
Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot plugins and themes
Handle course backups, restores, imports, duplication, and archiving
Test courses from the student view before anything goes live, including on mobile
Diagnose and resolve platform issues, including enrollment errors, completion tracking failures, broken content, and access problems
Support Moodle core updates and version upgrades, including testing after updates
Maintain integrations between the LMS and connected systems such as payment processing, our website, and
Keep courses consistent in structure and appearance so students experience the same standard across every certification track
2. Website
Make content updates, page edits, and structural changes to our website
Build and update landing pages for courses, promotions, and campaigns
Maintain CMS, theme, and plugin updates without breaking existing functionality
Monitor and fix broken links, forms, checkout paths, and enrollment flows
Keep the site fast, mobile responsive, and stable
Apply basic on-page SEO practices: page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, image alt text, and clean URLs
Coordinate the connection points between website and LMS so a purchase turns into a working enrollment every single time
Follow security basics: current software, safe plugin choices, backups, and no unnecessary risk taken with a live production site
3. Marketing video and social media
Edit marketing videos for social platforms, including short form vertical content
Add captions, text overlays, music, branding, and thumbnails
Repurpose one piece of source content into multiple platform-appropriate formats
Produce and format content for platforms including
Schedule and publish content on an agreed calendar
Work from provided scripts and direction, and bring your own ideas when you have them
Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual look across everything published
Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools is a plus, since we already use them in our workflow
Confidentiality, access, and trust
This is the most important section in this posting.
The person in this role receives administrator-level access to the systems that hold everything Green Training USA has built. That includes:
Our entire curriculum. Every course, every module, every exam, and every question bank we have developed over years of work as an accredited provider. This material is proprietary intellectual property and it is the core asset of this company.
Our exam and assessment content. Question banks and exam material carry accreditation and integrity obligations. Exposure of this content is not a customer service problem. It is a threat to our standing with accrediting bodies and to the validity of every credential our students hold.
Student records and personal information. Names, contact information, enrollment history, payment-linked records, grades, and completion data. Students trust us with this and we are responsible for it.
Our live website and enrollment systems. A careless change here does not create an inconvenience. It stops revenue and blocks paying students from accessing training they already bought.
Administrative credentials across multiple connected platforms.
Because of that, the following are non-negotiable requirements of the engagement:
Signed non-disclosure agreement before any access is granted
Signed work-for-hire and intellectual property assignment agreement. All work product and all access to our curriculum remains our property. Nothing created for us is reused, resold, repurposed, sampled, or shown in a portfolio without written permission.
No copying, downloading, exporting, or retaining curriculum, exam content, or student data outside of approved systems, and full return or destruction of any materials when the engagement ends
No subcontracting, no sharing of credentials, and no handing work to a third party without written approval from us. If someone else touches our systems, we need to know who they are.
Secure practices required: unique strong passwords, two-factor authentication where available, a password manager, a secured and updated work device, and no work on our systems from shared or public computers
Backups before major changes and a tested rollback plan for anything touching live courses or the live site
No work performed for direct competitors in the building performance and energy efficiency training space during the engagement
Immediate notification if you suspect a breach, an a
Compliance with applicable student privacy and data protection obligations
We are placing a very high level of trust in one person. We are looking for someone who treats that as a serious professional responsibility and not as routine platform access.
Required qualifications
Documented, hands-on Moodle experience. You must be able to describe specific courses and sites you have built or administered and what you did on them. General LMS experience does not substitute for Moodle experience.

Experience with SCORM or similar packaged content
Website management experience, including CMS content updates, plugin and theme maintenance, and basic troubleshooting
Video editing experience for social and marketing content, with a portfolio
Social media content production and publishing experience
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, from a written scope, and deliver on deadline
Strong written communication. You confirm scope, report status, flag problems early, and answer messages.
Reliable availability and fast, consistent responsiveness
Professional judgment about when to act and when to stop and ask
Own equipment, software, and reliable internet
Authorized to work in the United States as an independent contractor and able to provide a W-9
Preferred qualifications

Basic analytics literacy across LMS reports, site traffic, and social performance
Performance expectations
Responsiveness: acknowledge new project requests within one business day
Turnaround: meet the deadline agreed at the start of each project. If something changes, you tell us before the deadline, not after it.

Communication: scope confirmed in writing before work starts, status shared on longer projects, questions asked early
Accuracy: our curriculum content is technical and tied to accreditation. Details matter and copy and paste errors have consequences.
