JOB OVERVIEW

We write original Victorian and Regency stories with the help of AI, and we need a sharp human editor to review each book before it moves into production. AI writes the draft. Your job is to make sure it reads like a real book written by a real author - not something a machine produced.

You do not need to be a professional book editor. We are looking for someone with a strong love of reading, excellent English, and a sharp eye - anyone who could catch the things that pull a reader out of a story.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Read each full book and review it the way a real editor would.
- Catch inconsistencies: plot holes, character mix-ups, name or timeline errors, things that contradict earlier chapters.
- Flag anything that does not make sense or breaks the logic of the story.
- Spot "AI tells" - robotic phrasing, repetitive patterns, generic wording, jargon, or anything that sounds artificial or unnatural.
- Make sure the writing feels authentic, human, and true to the tone of a Victorian/Regency story.
- Check that the English is clean, natural, and reads well.

WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR
- Someone who skims and gives it a thumbs up.
- Someone who runs it through a grammar tool and calls it done.
- Surface-level proofreading with no attention to story, sense, or authenticity.

MUST-HAVE
- Excellent English - near-native reading and writing, with a strong sense of natural phrasing.
- A sharp eye for inconsistencies, continuity errors, and things that "don't add up."
- The ability to tell when text sounds AI-generated versus genuinely human.
- A real reader - you enjoy books and know what makes a story work.

NICE TO HAVE
- Interest in the Victorian and Regency era.
- A fan of Bridgerton-style stories and period romance/drama.
- Editing, proofreading, or writing experience.

THE WORK
- Genre: Victorian and Regency stories.
- This is the review step that happens before a book goes into video/audiobook production.
- Volume: roughly one book per month to start, with room to grow over time.
- Long-term: we want one dependable reviewer to grow with us, not a one-off freelancer.

PAY
- $10 per book reviewed. Paid through Wise in USD.
- Long-term, ongoing role with room to grow as our volume increases.

HIRING PROCESS
- Apply (see below).
- Selected applicants will be asked to review a short sample - part of an actual book - so we can see whether your eye matches what you describe.
- Strong reviewers move on to a full paid test.
- From there, we select our long-term editor.

HOW TO APPLY
- Tell us about your reading and any editing/writing experience.
- Describe your English level and how you learned it.
- Tell us your favorite books or genres - and whether you enjoy the Victorian/Regency era.
- Tell us your availability and whether you can commit long-term.

We read every application. Generic copy-paste replies will not be considered.
