We are a 13-person managed services provider (MSP) in San Diego, California, and we are hiring an Account Manager in the Philippines to own our client relationships and run our Quarterly Business Reviews.
Right now the owner does this job. That is the problem. He cannot scale, and our clients deserve someone whose whole job is thinking about them.
WHAT A QBR IS, AND WHY IT MATTERS HERE
Every quarter we sit down with a client and show them they are not on autopilot - that we are measuring their environment, we know where it is weak, and we have a plan. We use ScalePad Lifecycle Manager to do it.
Our internal playbook defines success in one sentence, and this is the standard you would be held to:
"Move at least one initiative from Proposed to Approved by the end of the meeting. If you leave with everything still Proposed, you did not run a QBR, you ran a status update."
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Preparing QBRs. Our engineers score the technical assessment - you never do, because they know the environment. You take that scored assessment and turn it into the client story: create the Initiatives from the at-risk items, write the budgets, build the roadmap, write the client Goals.
- Running the future-dated comparison assessment. This is the heart of it: today they score 38 percent, and if they approve these four initiatives they score 69 percent by September. That side-by-side is what makes a client say yes. It is yours to own.
- Building the deliverable and picking the right template for the audience. A CEO gets goals, roadmap and budget. An IT director gets technical detail. An office manager wants assets and renewal dates.
- Running the meeting. Presenting live, sending the PDF after, creating the follow-up action items.
- Chasing the initiatives between quarters. This is where most MSPs fail. Approved work that nobody follows up on is worth nothing.
- Getting involved when a client has a problem. Not fixing it yourself - making sure the right person owns it and the client knows where things stand.
- Talking with clients about AI. Every business owner is asking what AI can do for them. You need to hold that conversation credibly - Microsoft 365 Copilot, where AI actually saves a small business time, what governance and acceptable use mean - without pretending to be an engineer.
WHAT WE NEED
- You have worked in or around managed IT services and understand what an MSP does. This is not a role you can learn from scratch.
- You can talk to an American business owner as a peer. Calm, warm, organized, and you follow up when you say you will.
- You are comfortable with numbers - budgets, roadmaps, renewal dates - and you write clean executive-level English.
- You are curious about AI and already use it in your own work.
- ConnectWise, ScalePad Lifecycle Manager, Kaseya or Hudu experience is a real advantage. If you have not used them, you must be quick with new software.
THE HONEST PART
This is client-facing work with American clients, live, on camera. Your spoken English has to be genuinely excellent, not just good written English. We screen for that early because it is the whole job.
THE SCHEDULE - READ THIS TWICE
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM San Diego time, Monday to Friday. In Manila that is 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. It is a night shift and it is not flexible, because client meetings happen in US business hours.
We have a 15-minute stand-up on Microsoft Teams at 8:00 AM San Diego, on camera. After that you get your day to work. You also need genuinely reliable internet and a computer, plus a backup plan for when the power goes out.
ABOUT US
Completely virtual, and we genuinely like each other:
- Good vibes
- Hard working
- Customer caring
- Friendly
- Open to suggestions, easy communication
- Most of us really love music and chat about fun things on our Microsoft Teams board
- Willing to share your opinion on how to do something better
PAY
2,500 to 4,000 USD per month, based on experience and English. We pay at the top of that range for someone who can genuinely run the room.
HOW TO APPLY - THIS IS PART OF THE TEST
1. Subject line, exactly this format:
Account Manager - [Your Name] - [the last book that changed how you work]
2. Attach your resume.
3. Attach a voice recording of yourself - WAV or MP3, two to three minutes - reading this question out loud and then answering it:
"Tell me about a client relationship you saved, or one you lost. What did you do, and what would you do differently?"
No ZIP or RAR files. Applications without a voice recording will not be reviewed. For this role especially, we need to hear you speak.
4. One line: can you work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM San Diego time, five days a week, long term? Yes or no.
OUR PROCESS
Stage 1 - these questions and your voice recording.
Stage 2 - a conversation with the owner on Microsoft Teams.
Stage 3 - a paid exercise: we give you a real client scenario and you build the business review. We pay you for your time.
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom : )
