–––––––– About Us
We create premium print products: wire-bound books, paperbacks, hardbacks, flashcards, and more, selling across multiple channels. We're a forward-thinking design team working at the front edge of how graphic design is changing with AI. We're not looking for someone who wants to spend hours hand-crafting every element from scratch. We want someone fluent in AI workflows, comfortable prompting tools like Midjourney to generate assets quickly, then refining and integrating them beautifully in InDesign. If you want to stay relevant as a designer and work on where the field is actually heading, this is the role.
–––––––– Responsibilities
• Design print-ready products (books, flashcards, documents) in InDesign, with clean spacing, alignment, and usability throughout.
• Use AI image generation tools (Midjourney, Higgsfield, or similar) to create assets, then refine and integrate them into final designs.
• Create infographics, 3D mockups, and listing images for e-commerce.
• Take a loose brief and run with it. For example, turn a rough book outline into a few mood board directions before we develop full pages together.
• Work closely and iteratively. If you're waiting on feedback, shift to another task rather than sitting idle.
• Maintain a refined, modern aesthetic. We want standout quality, not generic templated output.
• Build things so they last: reusable templates, consistent style choices, documented decisions so your work holds up with less direction over time.
• Deliver organised, production-ready InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop files.
• Expect mutual honesty. Ask questions, flag problems early, and treat us as equals.
–––––––– Requirements
• Proficient in InDesign. This is our core software, so you need to be genuinely fast and efficient in it, not just familiar with it.
• Able to take a loose brief and deliver polished, creative options with minimal direction. You work proactively, not reactively.
• Responsive and reliable with deadlines. We work to timelines and need someone we can count on.
• Real experience with print design: typography, layout, usability, spacing, alignment, and consistent colour use.
• Understanding of font licensing and image sourcing, so everything you produce is commercially legal and we have a record of where assets came from.
• A portfolio showing your print and digital work. It doesn't need to be custom-built for this role, just show us what you can do.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.
• Serious attention to detail. We care more about a perfectly kerned line of text than a fast one. When you apply, start your message with the word INDIGO so we know you've actually read this.
• Comfortable signing an NDA. No sharing of files or concepts outside the team.
• Tell us a bit about yourself too, not just your work. What do you enjoy doing outside of design? What do you spend your time on? We're hiring a person, not just a set of skills.
–––––––– Preferred but Not Required
• Good at prompt engineering. You can brief an AI tool and get close to what you actually wanted.
• Experience creating Amazon, eBay, or Etsy listings.
• Working understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator.
–––––––– The Package
• Flexible working hours.
• Holiday pay and sick pay.
• AI subscription included.
• Access to Skillshare for ongoing training.
• Paid Adobe Creative Cloud subscription from November, once you've passed probation.
• Staggered probation: 2 weeks, then 1 month, then 3 months, with a check-in at each stage.
• A proper contract with a notice period once probation is complete.
–––––––– Hiring Process
1. Portfolio review and interview.
2. 2 to 3 shortlisted candidates move to a paid two-week trial. You'll deliver real work (mood boards, sample pages, etc.) so we can both confirm it's a good fit.
3. A successful trial leads into the staggered probation period above.
Over time we expect you to internalise our style and standards so our direction gets lighter, not heavier. We want someone we can hand a brief to and trust with the details.
