Group Corporate Controller – Canada, U.S. and International Finance
We are seeking an exceptional Philippines-based finance executive with active Canadian and U.S. CPA credentials to serve as Group Corporate Controller.
Operating across industrial, manufacturing, drilling, technology, and international markets, our group requires a senior financial executive who can oversee accounting, tax coordination, payroll, reporting, treasury, compliance, controls, and financial planning across Canadian, U.S., and international entities.
The Group Corporate Controller will report directly to the President, maintain a clear understanding of the group’s overall financial position, identify financial and compliance risks early, and provide ownership with practical, evidence-based recommendations.
Position Details
Job title: Group Corporate Controller – Canada, U.S. and International Finance
Location: Fully remote executive position for candidates based in the Philippines
Employment: Full-time, stable, and long-term
Reporting relationship: Reports directly to the President and works with Canadian, U.S., and international tax, legal, banking, insurance, payroll, and audit professionals
Schedule: Requires substantial overlap with Canadian and U.S. business hours, with reasonable flexibility for urgent executive matters
Travel: Occasional company-paid travel to Canada, the United States, or other international locations may be required
Candidates may live anywhere in the Philippines, provided they have a secure professional workspace, reliable primary and backup internet connections, and the required schedule availability.
Mandatory Professional Designations
Applicants must currently hold:
- An active Canadian CPA designation issued by a recognized provincial or territorial CPA organization
- An active U.S. CPA license issued by a U.S. state or other recognized licensing jurisdiction
- Good standing and current CPD or CPE compliance in both jurisdictions
A Philippine CPA license is strongly preferred but is not mandatory.
Passing a CPA examination without holding active Canadian and U.S. credentials does not satisfy these requirements. Candidates who do not currently hold both active credentials should not apply.
Professional credentials and good-standing status will be independently verified for shortlisted candidates.
Required Career Experience
Applicants must have:
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, finance, audit, tax, treasury, or corporate financial leadership
- At least five years in a senior position such as Corporate Controller, Group Controller, Finance Director, Head of Finance, Vice President of Finance, Tax Director, or Chief Financial Officer
- Direct professional responsibility for both Canadian and U.S. corporations, not merely academic, advisory-only, or occasional exposure
- Multinational experience involving multiple entities, currencies, banks, jurisdictions, and professional advisory firms
- Experience reporting directly to an owner, President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, or board of directors
- Proven ability to manage accounting staff, bookkeepers, payroll personnel, consultants, and external accountants
- Executive-level written and spoken English suitable for banking, legal, audit, tax-authority, board, and ownership communications
- Experience with a Big Four or national accounting firm, public company, multinational organization, or major North American business is preferred.
- Experience in industrial operations, drilling, manufacturing, inventory, logistics, import and export, software, technology, or international trading is also desirable.
Canadian Accounting and Tax Expertise
The successful candidate must demonstrate substantial practical experience in:
- Canadian corporate accounting, year-end preparation, adjusting entries, working papers, and financial-statement packages
- Federal and provincial corporate income-tax concepts, including Alberta requirements
- GST, HST, and applicable PST or QST registrations, filings, reconciliations, reviews, and audits
- Canadian payroll, source deductions, taxable benefits, vacation obligations, T4, T4A, Records of Employment, and remittance controls
- T5, NR4, non-resident payments, withholding tax, and information returns
- Canada Revenue Agency accounts, notices, reviews, audits, information requests, objection support, documentation, and correspondence
- Intercompany and shareholder transactions, management fees, loans, dividends, capital assets, and foreign exchange
- Budgeting, forecasting, banking, lender reporting, and coordination with Canadian CPA firms and tax counsel

- U.S. payroll concepts, federal and state withholding, unemployment obligations, worker classification, W-2, and 1099 processes
- Internal Revenue Service notices, examinations, information requests, penalties, and audit support
- Canada-U.S. transactions, intercompany billing, withholding tax, treaty considerations, foreign reporting, and permanent-establishment risk
- Inventory accounting, landed cost, warehouse controls, fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditures
- Coordination with U.S. CPAs, enrolled agents, tax attorneys, payroll firms, banks, and government authorities
International and Multinational Expertise
The successful candidate should be highly capable in:
- Multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, close management, and global chart-of-accounts governance
- Multi-currency accounting, foreign-exchange gains and losses, exposure monitoring, and treasury controls
- International banking, wire controls, cash management, authorization procedures, and fraud prevention

- Coordinating multi-jurisdiction compliance through local accountants, auditors, tax specialists, and legal advisers
- Applying IFRS and U.S. GAAP to practical accounting and reporting matters
Principal Responsibilities
The Group Corporate Controller will:

- Improve inventory, warehouse, job-costing, landed-cost, fixed-asset, and profitability reporting
- Support acquisitions, incorporations, reorganizations, international expansion, due diligence, and financing
- Prepare and review audit, tax, banking, insurance, and legal working papers
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate finance and accounting personnel
- Identify errors, waste, duplicate costs, control weaknesses, process failures, tax exposures, and cash-flow risks
