Advisory Analyst — Virtual CFO Support (Remote, Philippines)
SBO Financial is a virtual accounting and advisory firm working with high-growth eCommerce, SaaS, and services businesses across Australia. We help our clients scale through smart finance systems, sharp reporting, and strategic CFO-level support. We're a distributed team across Australia, the Philippines, and India, and we're growing our Advisory function to deliver deeper, more proactive analysis to our Virtual CFO clients.
We're hiring an Advisory Analyst to be the right hand of our Virtual CFOs, building the financial models, budgets, and analysis that sit underneath every advisory engagement.
What you'll do:
Build and maintain three-way financial models, budgets, forecasts, and scenario analyses for Advisory clients
Turn raw client data (Xero exports, operational data, prior models) into clean, audit-ready models
Run variance analysis, KPI tracking, cash flow analysis, and unit economics, and surface the story behind the numbers, not just the numbers
Prepare draft commentary and client-ready deliverables (board packs, advisory reports, dashboards) to a standard your Virtual CFO can review and sign off, not rebuild
Maintain working papers and version control so every model is defensible and auditable
Coordinate with Client Managers on data requests and reconciliations, and track engagement progress in Karbon
Spot opportunities to turn repeated analysis into templates, checklists, or automation
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
3+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, business advisory, or audit, with a strong analytical lean
Real financial modelling experience (three-way models, budgets, scenarios) that you can walk through and defend
Advanced Excel and Google Sheets (structured references, scenario modelling, lookups, array logic)
Solid grasp of how the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow connect
Strong written English; you can draft commentary an Australian business owner reads without translation
Self-directed; you own your work and push it forward without needing to be chased
Nice to have:
CPA Philippines (qualified or part-qualified), or an equivalent qualification in progress
Experience in a professional services or accounting firm
Xero and Karbon (or similar cloud GL / practice management tools)
Exposure to eCommerce, SaaS, or subscription business models
Exposure to Modano or other formal modelling frameworks
Hours and setup:
Full-time, 40 hours/week
Aligned to Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT)
Fully remote; Zoom for tea
Why SBO:
Direct exposure to Virtual CFO-level work, not just data entry, real modelling and analysis that shapes client decisions
A clear growth path toward Senior Advisory Analyst and beyond, into Virtual CFO or specialist FP&A roles
A firm in active growth, capacity built now creates leadership opportunity later
A finance team that believes in doing this properly: real systems, real standards, no busywork
