JOB OVERVIEW

About the project
We're an early-stage startup (still in stealth) building a booking marketplace for children's activities — think ClassPass, but for kids. Parents come to us to discover, book, and manage classes across providers in one place: sports, music, arts, coding, swimming, weekend enrichment, all of it. Right now the product experience is the thing that will d ---------- whether this works.

So design isn't a coat of paint here — it's the core of what we're building.
We're looking for a designer to lead the UX and UI for our web platform — the discovery experience, the booking flow, and the parent's account — and take it from research through to polished, developer-ready screens. This is a defined project with a scope and a timeline, so we want someone who can own design end to end rather than just push pixels on someone else's plan.

Why this one's interesting

You're designing for two people at once — a busy parent making a decision, and a kid the product is ultimately for. Getting that balance right (trustworthy for adults, warm and playful without being childish) is the whole challenge.
It's a real marketplace problem: search, filters, availability, scheduling, checkout. Plenty of meaty UX to sink your teeth into.
Early stage means your work ships and your decisions stick. You'll help set the visual and interaction foundations the product grows on.

What you'll own
The heart of this role is UX and UI craft. Concretely, across the project you'll handle:
UX — research & structure
Map the core journeys — a parent discovering activities, comparing options, and booking — and pin down where they get stuck.
Turn that into information architecture, user flows, and wireframes we can pressure-test before we build.
Run lightweight usability checks on your own designs and fold what you learn back in.
UI — visual design & system
Design the interface: a clean, child-friendly, trustworthy look that parents take seriously and kids find inviting.
Build a reusable component library and design system so the product stays consistent as it grows.
Own the details — type, spacing, colour, states, empty screens, error handling. The stuff that separates "fine" from "feels good".

Prototyping & handoff
Build interactive Figma prototypes so we can feel a flow before committing to it.
Prepare developer-ready specs — tokens, redlines, states — and work closely with engineering through build. Comfort with how your designs translate to front-end code is a real plus.

Portfolio (required — please read)
A portfolio is non-negotiable. We won't be able to consider applications without one, so please don't apply without a link. We're far more interested in seeing the work than reading a CV.
What we're hoping to see:
Two or three projects where you clearly owned both the UX and the UI — not just one screen from a big team effort.
Your thinking, not just the final art: the problem, a few key decisions, and why you made them.
Examples across the surfaces we care about — ideally a responsive web experience, a mobile app, and a data-rich dashboard or admin panel. Real interaction complexity (booking flows, marketplaces) is a big plus.
Bonus if you can point to work for kids, parents, or education — but strong general product work beats a weak themed piece.

What we're looking for
Proven across all three surfaces: web, mobile app, and dashboard / admin interfaces. We want to see real, shipped work in each — this product spans all three.
A track record of taking UX and UI from start to finish, not just polishing someone else's screens.
Real fluency in Figma, from wireframes to a maintained component library and prototypes.
Solid instincts for interaction design, layout, typography, and colour — and the discipline to keep things consistent.
You can research a problem, defend a design decision, and take feedback without getting precious about it.
Hands-on with Claude Code: you can use it to turn your own designs into working front-end, so prototyping and handoff move fast. This one matters to us.
Self-directed. This is contract and remote, so you can run your own process and hit milestones without hand-holding.
Prefer availability 9 am to 6 pm (Phillipines time)

Nice to have
Experience designing for children, families, or education products.
A feel for motion / micro-interactions and how a bit of delight can help a kids product.
Accessibility know-how (WCAG) — this is a product families rely on.
Broader comfort with front-end (HTML/CSS) or other AI build tools beyond Claude Code.
The engagement

Type: Freelance / independent contract. Project-based.
Location: Fully remote. We work on Singapore time (UTC+8), so if you're in the Philippines your day lines up with ours — same hours, no graveyard shifts.

Pay: In PHP, paid reliably on agreed milestones via Wise or PayPal. No chasing, no surprises.
Scope: A defined project with milestones — research and flows, then UI and design system, then prototypes and handoff.
Rate: Competitive and open — tell us your rate (hourly or per-milestone) and roughly how you'd want to structure it.
Start: Soon. We're ready to move once we find the right person.

What's in it for you
A clearly scoped project with a real budget — you'll know what's expected and get paid on time, in PHP, for hitting it.
Your hours, not ours-in-the-middle-of-your-night. Being in the same timezone means normal working days and easy live collaboration.
Ownership. This isn't ticket-work — you'll shape the product's UX and visual direction and see your designs actually ship.
If it clicks on both sides, there's real scope for more work beyond this first project as we grow.
A small, respectful, English-speaking team that values good design and won't micro-manage you.

How to apply
Send us four things — keep it short:
A link to your portfolio (required).
A couple of lines on a kids or booking-style product you'd redesign, and the first thing you'd change.
Your rate and availability.
Anything you want us to look at first.
No long cover letter needed. Show us the work and how you think, and we'll take it from there.
We're currently in stealth, so we'll share the company details and full brief once we're talking. We review every portfolio that comes in.
