About Us

We are Hockey Rejects, a fast-growing hockey comedy brand creating cinematic, vertical skits and short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts and Snapchat.

Our videos are comedy-focused and rely heavily on timing, pacing, music, sound effects, reaction shots and storytelling.

We are looking for someone who wants to become our long-term editor, not someone looking for a one-time freelance project.

If you're passionate about editing and want to grow with a creator brand, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Edit

Most of your work will be cinematic comedy skits.

Typical video length:

30–90 seconds

Occasionally you'll also edit:

Meme videos
Short comedy clips
Promotional videos

What Makes This Different

This is NOT a talking-head editing job.

You will NOT be editing:

Podcasts
Business coaching videos
Influencer-style videos
Generic TikTok captions

Instead, you'll be editing scripted comedy.

The timing of every cut matters.

The sound effects matter.

The music matters.

The pacing matters.

What We Provide:

We organize the footage before sending it to you.

You will receive:

One selected take from each actor
One/Two wide-angle takes
Any B-roll needed
Clear & Labeled project folders
Master Editing Guidelines sheet (We will NOT be providing specific instructions for each & every video as this job is to save us time and this will also give flexibility & creative control on your end)

We intentionally remove unnecessary footage so you don't have to search through dozens of takes. Everything sent to you will be in the finished version.

Your job is to create a polished, engaging final edit.

Responsibilities

- Edit cinematic comedy videos using technological savvy editing tools.

- Add:
Sound effects
Music
Zooms
Punch-ins
Audio enhancements
Smooth transitions
Comedic timing
Visual polish
Colour grading

- Export videos in required formats for social media.

- Meet agreed turnaround times.

- Be open to feedback and continuously improve.

Requirements

- Excellent English communication.

- Strong Editing Tools Experience (Adobe Pro, CapCut, etc.)

- Experience editing cinematic videos.

- Good understanding of comedy timing.

- Ability to take feedback.

- Reliable internet.

- Professional communication.

- Attention to detail.

Bonus Skills:

These are NOT required but are considered a bonus:

- After Effects

- Photoshop

- Motion Graphics

- Sports knowledge

- Ice Hockey fan

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who wants a long-term relationship.

Ideally, after working together for a couple months, you'll know exactly how Hockey Rejects videos should look.

We're not looking for someone who simply assembles clips.

We're looking for someone who cares about creating great content.

Paid Test Edit:

Final candidates will complete a paid test edit using footage from one of our comedy skits.

This is paid work.

This is a long-term position with consistent monthly work.

As Hockey Rejects grows, there will be opportunities for increased hours and responsibilities. The workload will initially be based on our content schedule rather than a concrete fixed number of hours. We are currently producing approximately 12-15 cinematic comedy skits per month, with potential for additional editing work as the brand grows. Your responsibility would be to complete this frequency monthly (plus additional).
