Role Summary
The Accountant is the execution backbone of the Aureus Accounting team, responsible for simple, repeatable, checklist-driven work. This role provides critical support to Accountants by owning the preparation layer of compliance, bookkeeping support, and client follow-up.
The Associate operates within well-defined boundaries and escalates promptly when matters exceed their authority. Success in this role is measured by accuracy, timeliness, and reliability in the consistent execution of delegated tasks.
Key Accountabilities
1 Compliance & Regulatory Support
Prepare ASIC annual reviews and manage all associated follow-up actions.
Prepare SGC (Superannuation Guarantee Charge) statements and process reconciliations.
Process simple STP (Single Touch Payroll) transactions.
Prepare simple TPAR (Taxable Payments Annual Report) filings.
Download and file ATO reports as required.
2 Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
Provide bookkeeping support as directed by the supervising Accountant.
Conduct General Ledger reviews and flag discrepancies for Accountant resolution.
Assist with BAS drafting and support BAS follow-up activities.
Prepare batch payments and ABA files for approval.
3. Billing & Accounts Receivable
Raise invoices accurately and within approved budgets.
Chase Accounts Receivable (AR) and manage all overdue account follow-up.
4. Workflow & Document Management
Set up workpapers and save Business Fitness workpaper templates.
Collect outstanding documents from clients in a timely manner.

Role Requirements
Experience
5 years' experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or professional services support role (preferred).
Exposure to Australian compliance obligations including ASIC, STP, SGC, TPAR, and BAS.
Experience working within checklist-driven, process-oriented workflows.
Demonstrated ability to manage client follow-up and administrative tasks with accuracy and reliability.
Skills & Competencies
Working knowledge of Xero, Karbon, and XPM — or a demonstrated ability to learn practice management software quickly.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail — able to produce accurate, error-free work consistently.
Clear written communication — able to liaise professionally with clients and the internal team.
Discipline to follow established systems and escalate appropriately when matters fall outside defined boundaries.
