JOB OVERVIEW

About the role:
---------------------
We run Voyager, a YouTube channel that investigates the great unsolved mysteries of math, science, and engineering. Our videos are rigorously researched and told as stories, so any curious person feels both the awe of the unknown and the satisfaction of finally understanding it. Our editing style prioritizes clarity, accuracy, and detail over flashy effects — every graphic earns its place by making an abstract idea easier to understand.

You'll work directly with our two founders/creative directors on a channel with 7k+ subscribers and 450k+ views.
See our style on our YouTube ----------

What you'll do:
---------------------
Edit 2–3 long-form videos per month (typically 20–25 min each), roughly one finished video per week. A full edit includes: assembly and pacing from provided A-roll and script, color grading, sound design (compression, EQ, music selection), B-roll sourcing, motion graphics/animations, and maintaining a cohesive brand look throughout.

You're a fit if you have:
---------------------
Proven experience editing long-form YouTube videos with a strong grasp of YouTube pacing and storytelling (think Johnny Harris, Vox, Cleo Abram, 3Blue1Brown)
Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve (Studio not required)
Ability to create motion graphics and simple animations
Comfort sourcing B-roll and doing sound design (compression, EQ, licensed music)
Fluent English and experience working async in a remote team
Bonus: a background or strong interest in math, engineering, or physics

Expectations:
---------------------
One finished 20–25 min video per week
Weekly 1-hour call with the creative directors
Consistent deadlines; up to 3 revision rounds per video included
Async communication over WhatsApp, replies within 24 hours on workdays

Rate:
---------------------
$10 per finished minute — most videos run 20–25 min, so roughly $200–$250 per video, paid per video on delivery. Included revision rounds are covered by the per-minute rate. Performance-based bonuses available.

How to apply:
---------------------
Step 1 — Reply by answering the following questions:
1. In two or three sentences, tell us one YouTube channel whose editing you admire and why.
2. Do you have a background or strong interest in math, science, or engineering? Tell us briefly.
3. Link to your portfolio/reel/channel/Resume
4. Link 1-2 long form YouTube Videos you have personally edited. (Send Youtube link ONLY)

Step 2 — Paid trial edit. Selected candidates will be invited to a paid trial ($20) — a short intro video plus a 2-minute edited clip using our actual footage, which we'll send you directly. This is where we see how you work with our material.

Step 3 — Final interview. Candidates whose trial stands out meet with our creative directors, Madeline and Aditya, to talk through the edit, working style, and the role.
