JOB OVERVIEW

Ultra Labs is seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain the server infrastructure powering our growing portfolio of media and technology businesses across Asia. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Node-based frameworks, is comfortable architecting proxy layers and third-party integrations, and can build systems that stay resilient and performant under real-world load. This role is central to how our applications talk to external services, so reliability, error handling, and thoughtful architecture matter as much as clean code.

What You'll Do
_Design, build, and maintain web servers using frameworks like Hono.
_Create and manage proxy request layers to connect with external data engines.
_Build resilient integrations with third-party APIs, handling rate limits, retries, and error states.
_Structure services for performance and maintainability under load.
_Deploy and adjust Supabase edge functions as needed.
_Collaborate with leadership and other tea ---------- mbers, communicating progress and blockers clearly.
_Take direction well and deliver against a defined spec.

What We're Looking For
_Strong backend experience with Node-based frameworks (Hono, NestJS, or similar).
_Experience building and managing proxy request architectures.
_Comfort integrating with external/third-party APIs.
_Solid understanding of server architecture, async patterns, and error handling.
_Experience with Supabase edge functions.
_Rust or TypeScript proficiency.
_Ability to take a defined spec and execute against it with minimal back-and-forth.
_Clear communicator who flags blockers early and reports progress proactively.
