About JHB Search

JHB Search is a US-based executive search firm specializing in placing investment professionals at private equity firms, venture capital funds, hedge funds, private credit funds, and other alternative asset managers. Our clients are institutional investors and fund managers hiring at the Associate, VP, Principal, and Managing Director levels.

We are hiring a full-time remote Executive Search Researcher to join our team as an embedded member — you will work US Eastern hours, use a ---------- email address, and represent JHB Search directly to candidates and market contacts.

This role is only for candidates who are already finance-literate. If you do not know the difference between a PE fund, a VC fund, and a private credit fund — this role is not for you. Please do not apply.

What You'll Do

Source investment professional candidates on LinkedIn using Boolean and advanced search across PE, VC, hedge fund, private credit, and alternative asset management firms

Build detailed org charts and team maps of target firms — investment team structure, seniority levels, coverage areas, and reporting lines

Research target firms in depth — fund strategy, AUM, recent deals, portfolio companies, fund vintages, LP base, and recent hires/departures

Write high-quality, personalized outreach messages (LinkedIn InMail, email) to passive candidates — your writing represents JHB Search directly

Set up calls with candidates (15–20 minutes) to confirm interest, compensation, mobility, and fit, and hand off qualified prospects to our senior team

Maintain candidate long-lists, target company maps, and all activity/notes in our CRM

Attend a daily 15-minute sync with the US team

Who You Are

Finance-literate — you are familiar with venture capital, private equity, private credit, and alternative investment managers broadly. You understand terms like AUM, carry, IRR, MOIC, TVPI, direct lending, ABF, long/short equity, LP/GP, fund vintages, dry powder, and portfolio company. You can read a fund's website and summarize their strategy and team in your own words.

Strong writer — your written English is polished, professional, and persuasive. You can write a LinkedIn InMail that a Managing Director at a $10B fund will actually read and respond to.

Excellent spoken English — neutral accent, business-professional tone. You will speak directly with US-based investment professionals earning $500K–$3M+ per year.

LinkedIn power user — you are proficient with LinkedIn Recruiter or LinkedIn Sales Navigator (Boolean search, filters, InMail cadences) and can build accurate org charts of investment teams from public LinkedIn data

Detail-oriented and self-managing — you're comfortable working independently while your team sleeps

Prior experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

Executive search / recruitment firm (especially finance vertical)

Financial services KPO — Northern Trust, JPMorgan Manila, Deloitte USI, EY GDS, Goldman Sachs Manila, etc.

Investment research, equity research support, or private markets research

Buy-side or sell-side operations at a bank or asset manager

Compensation

Base: $8+ per hour, based on experience (finance background, search experience, and English quality)

Commission: at least $2,000 per placed deal — every candidate you help place earns you a bonus starting at $2K, scaling up with search size

Paid trial period — we start every new researcher on a paid 2-week trial at the full agreed hourly rate. If we're a fit on both sides at the end of the trial, we convert you to a full-time, long-term role.

Paid on time in USD via Wise (or your preferred method)
