About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented CAD Draftsman to support our engineering and product development teams. This role is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining accurate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for machined, fabricated, welded, and assembled products.
This job requires proficiency in Solidworks or other 3d modeling software with assemblies. Experience with 3D renderings using keyshot is a plus.
The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills, good mechanical aptitude, and the ability to turn sketches, measurements, prototypes, and engineering input into clear production-ready drawings.
Responsibilities
Create and revise 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models.
Prepare detailed drawings for fabricated, machined, welded, sheet metal, and assembled parts.
Generate drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, hole callouts, weld symbols, material notes, and finish requirements.
Update existing drawings based on engineering changes, production feedback, or supplier input.
Create bills of materials, cut lists, and part documentation as needed.
Work with engineers, shop personnel, vendors, and management to clarify design intent and manufacturing requirements.
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
Maintain organized CAD files, drawing revisions, and part number documentation.
Support product development by converting concepts, sketches, and measurements into usable CAD models and drawings.
Assist with reverse engineering existing parts when needed.
Qualifications
Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar.
Ability to read and create mechanical drawings.
Understanding of basic manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, laser cutting, bending, and assembly.
Familiarity with tolerances, fits, hole patterns, threads, and common fasteners.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to measure parts using calipers, tape measures, gauges, or other basic measuring tools.
Good communication skills and ability to work with both office and shop personnel.
Ability to manage multiple drawing tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
Familiarity with GD&T.
Experience creating flat patterns or sheet metal drawings.
Experience creating assembly drawings and exploded views.
Experience with ERP, BOM, or part-numbering systems.
Knowledge of common materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron.
