JOB OVERVIEW

We run a network of YouTube channels across several niches : history, military, firearms, men's lifestyle & advice, farming/homesteading — doing millions of views per month. We're hiring ONE full-time thumbnail designer.

The job:

A thumbnail exists for ONE reason: to make a stranger stop scrolling and click. That is thumbnail psychology, and it is the entire job. AI image skills WITHOUT thumbnail psychology are worthless to us — a beautiful image nobody clicks is a wasted image and wasted money.

1. Start with psychology, not pixels: from our brief, lock the focal point, the emotion, and the curiosity gap. The reason a viewer HAS to click
2. Generate the base image with AI (we provide the accounts and image-gen budget) through deliberate, iterative prompting. Every prompt decision made in service of the click, not of "looking cool"
3. Finish in Photoshop or Canva: fix artifacts, composite, color grade, add text that reads at mobile size - judged by one question only: does this make more people click?

If you think of thumbnails as art, do not apply. If you understand that a thumbnail is click psychology rendered as an image, keep reading.

**You're the right person if:**

- You already work with AI image tools (GPT 2, Nanobanana 2 experience is a must) and can show your work WITH the prompts. Personal projects and fan thumbnails count — client work is NOT required
- You have visual taste: you can look at two thumbnails and explain why one gets clicked and the other gets scrolled past
- You know Photoshop, or you're strong in Canva and willing to learn Photoshop fast
- You apply feedback ONCE — we tell you something, you never make that mistake again
- You want one stable long-term employer, not gig work
- Be willing to work late at night to match with my timezone

**Content note:** some of our channels cover military history and firearms in an educational/historical context. You must be comfortable designing thumbnails featuring weapons and war imagery.
