Senior Bookkeeper (Remote – Philippines)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to support a growing Australian business. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of their work, and can provide accurate, timely financial information to business owners.
This is more than a data entry role—we're looking for someone who understands Australian bookkeeping principles, identifies issues before they become problems, and provides meaningful financial insights.
About You
You will have:
Minimum 5 years' experience as a bookkeeper supporting Australian businesses.
Strong working knowledge of Xero.
Excellent understanding of Australian GST, BAS and bookkeeping practices.
Experience working with Australian Chart of Accounts and financial reporting.
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Stable internet connection and home office setup.
Highly Desirable
Preference will be given to applicants who have:
Xero Advisor or Xero Certified qualifications.
Experience working with Australian accounting firms.
Understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements.
Experience with intercompany accounting.
A proactive approach to identifying errors, anomalies and process improvements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Processing approximately 100 supplier invoices (Accounts Payable) per month.
Completing approximately 100 bank reconciliations per week across multiple accounts.
Preparing monthly Trial Balance reports for business owners.
Reviewing and preparing monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.
Allocating customer expenses to the correct cost centres, projects or entities.
Preparing and posting intercompany journals.
Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Assisting with month-end close activities.
Liaising with management regarding bookkeeping queries where required.

Deliver accurate bookkeeping with minimal errors.
Complete reconciliations promptly each week.
Identify unusual transactions and raise them proactively.
Ensure financial reports are delivered on time each month.
Continuously look for ways to improve bookkeeping processes and financial visibility.
