JOB OVERVIEW

I run a digital marketing company with a growing portfolio of local and B2B brands. I'm looking for a skilled SEO who can do the work and eventually help run the operation.
This is not a task-only job. It starts at 20 hours a week doing hands-on SEO and light coordination of our existing contractors — but for the right person, it grows into leading our entire SEO and link-building team, with more hours, performance bonuses, and real ownership. If you're ambitious and want to grow into a leadership role rather than stay a task-taker forever, this is built for you.
What You'll Do
SEO Work (most of your hours):

Improve rankings for commercial "money" keywords that actually drive revenue — not just technical cleanup
Identify which pages are worth prioritizing (e.g. pages ranking positions 10-30 with room to climb) and build a plan to move them up
Keyword research, competitor gap analysis, on-page optimization, and content strategy
Source high-quality, relevant backlink prospects using our quality standards

Coordination (lighter part of the role):

Help keep our backlink and SEO contractors on track — making sure work is flowing and quality standards are met
Run first-pass review of contractor submissions against our quality filter
Keep things organized and communicate with me daily on progress and blockers

Who You Are

2+ years of real SEO experience — you can show me rankings or traffic you've actually moved
You understand that relevance and real traffic matter more than DR alone — a high-DR site with the wrong audience is worthless
You think about SEO in terms of rankings and revenue, not just technical checkboxes
Strong written English and reliable daily communication
Comfortable with Ahrefs (or similar), Google Search Console, spreadsheets, and Slack
Organized and dependable — if you say you'll do something, it gets done
Ambitious — you want to grow into leading a team, not just complete tasks

Hours & Growth

20 hours/week to start, roughly aligned with U.S. Central Time business hours for daily communication
$5/hour, paid weekly
This role has a real ceiling above it: as you prove yourself, expect more hours, performance-based bonuses, and the opportunity to run the whole SEO/link-building operation. I promote and pay based on results I can see.
